    Welcome to TW!
However, really tough to diagnose a problem without any explanation of said problem.

Did you try a direct upload or a link to a hosted vid?

Unfortunately that doesn’t sound like the “normal” Tacoma tick.

Is your engine a 4 cylinder or a 6 cylinder?

It is hard to say based off the video.
But it sounds like a chain or top end noise. But again, it’s hard to tell.

I would guess you'll have better luck using a direct upload for display purposes.

Not the same noise, but this is how mine has sounded since day 1. A tapping noise at around 300 taps per minute at idle, or half the engine rpm. Valve issues would be around the same speed since the cams are rotating at half the engine rpm. It sounds eerily similar to Chevy lifter failures. Yours sounds similar, just a lot louder.

But, everyone keeps telling me it’s normal and quite a few people have said theirs does it too.

A lot of misinformed people will tell you it’s the injector cleaning cycle.

Have you checked the oil level?

That’s how mine “normally” sounds but now it’s super loud, I took it in to get inspected but they couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it. So now I have to take it back to the dealership to get checked again.

Yeah I’m convinced the noise mine has been making since day 1 is not normal. I don’t know of any other engines that sound like they have a lifter/valve issue, except for the ones that actually do. I’ve asked multiple forums about it and all I get is “it’s the normal taco tick” without any explanation as to what inside the engine is making the noise. I get tons of people telling me it’s the cleaning cycle, but that’s a different sound entirely.
