I’m not saying it does, but I’ve never done it. The only dude in this conversation that has done it, says that it works.

Just cause one dude says it works doesn't always mean its correct. To expand on this topic, Im not aware of kings policy but I know that Icon has a certain preload thread count that if you go beyond that you will be void of the warranty. There are many guys that have busted the top hats of the icon design which IMO is a weird proprietary one with weakness...but the scary thing is some of these guys have also sheared their coil buckets when this event arises.

If jacking the truck up to 3 inches is purely aesthetic then things should be fine, but if you plan to wheel hard...well you may want to gusset that area.

Factory level meaning your standard leveling kit. No rake. Front level with factory height rear.

So I measured top hat to center lower shock bolt and it came to 21.5

The rear is factory pack with Icon aal progressive. Overload removed

It should be good then, you're truck doesn't look like it's excessively lifted.

Have you inspected for interference? There's been a few cases reported on here where folks received parts that weren't properly set up for their use (wrong rod end misalignment spacers, wrong lower coil seat) and components were hitting each other during travel or steering.

Also, did you order the extended Coilovers? Those are supposed to only be used with aftermarket UCAs. I *think* if they are used with OEM UCAs either the ball joint will bind or the UCA hits the coilover, not sure which.

I’ll have to dig deeper to check for correct parts although at first glance everything seems fine.

I am running spc uppers and they seem to have all the clearance they need. Yes they are extended also

Hi. Did you ever figure out the issue.. I'm running into same wzact problem. New kings, Coming out of a speed bump 5 mph, and it's got a violent rebound.

Could be a few things. Over sprung for the trucks weight, or added too much preload, lift and its too tall.

I am guessing not adjustable ... just part of lifting your preloading a heavy spring that wants to bounce back...good for ciropractors...lol...I am having same problem ..just ordered DOBINSONS mrr ..with rebound adjustment

If you went through this thread you saw that my truck was nothing crazy and was on the stock 650 springs. I still have the truck and the problem went away once I backed the preload off 1 or 2 turns. I am now level to slightly nose down. Still strange if you ask me but this is just my daily I have dedicated crawlers for the fun stuff so I have no off-road testing on the Tacoma.

When cranked up you lose all the down travel and will top out over bumps... even more vilolently with poor rebound characteristics and when over sprung...

Have you ever measured the down travel?

This isn’t a problem for me anymore so my memory is fuzzy but I believe I was always over 50% down travel

doubt it, are you even at 50% of total travel being down travel right now?.. (down travel for reference it the amount of droop from static ride height) have you measured it now at your current ride height? Do you even know how to measure the down travel?

One can guess but that only leads to believing you have 50% down travel after gaining lift from an aftermarket coil over.

lol Yeah brah right now I have 2 inches of shaft showing on a 4.75 shaft I’m sure you can do that math. 58% down travel and I believe the shaft is closer to 4.9” total usable so I’m rounded down but thanks for playing

This is the problem. Had that same issue on my 14 DCSB, hated the kings until I welded limit straps which solved the problem.

main reason why I went with Fox on my 23 tacoma.

I believe King is making changes to newer shocks which include a similar internal top out bumper. I will keep an eye out in back and snap some photos if I see it.

Hopefully they do change it. When I had the issue I was so surprised I didn’t find much info on it with so many people having kings on their Tacomas
