So my truck is stuck at work this evening.

Dash lights up, but when I turn key to start there is no sound and all lights go off. Then after a couple seconds they fade back in.

When I try to turn on headlights, same thing happens - all lights go out.

And strangely, when I try to turn on emergency lights or turn signal, it just makes a buzz. Not sure if this is at all related to my issue, but never had this happen before now.

Checked battery and it is over 12v.

Hooked up to another running vehicle and symptoms are exactly the same as described above. Battery is reading over 14v when boosted.

Any help greatly appreciated. Going back there in the morning to have another look...

    About 0c today.

Terminals looked OK. I even disconnected and reconnected. But I will be doing a more thorough check/clean tomorrow.

Is it common for turn/emergency switch to buzz when there's a bad ground? Haven't noticed that before...

    How many miles....

surely you check battery cables, and grounds first...

and has the electrical part of the ignition switch ever been replaced..
if going bad that could be taxing the system...
avg life is 150K.....aftermarket one may be less..

    250k miles (400km)

I checked the ground last night but not the positive. It was cold and after a long day of work.

Electrical part of the ignition system being what exactly? Do you have a part #?
