Is that inside the house or outside temp? Lol. Great job on the duct work. You going to finish it up today?

    About 64 inside.

The only duct left to run is a short cold air return, it is on the front side of the furnace and will be a head banger so that will be the last thing to do - I've rang my bell enough times down there already, don't need to be making opportunities.

Today should be insulating yesterdays duct (have to wait for the sealant to dry) and running the gas line.
I'm looking forward to getting finished on the back side mud slide, the front side is concrete, muddy & wet but still concrete.

Sorry to say but your basement is very strange to me with the dirt and rocks being exposed. Being in Florida, I’m not used to basements, but back in GA if you had one it was concrete block walls and poured floors. I would be afraid of monsters in yours lol

This is pretty typical for old country places here, the stacked stone walls are about a foot thick and were laid up without mortar. If they were constructed well and the ground is stable they last just about forever without trouble it seems.

In town where the houses tended to be a bit better built many of the older homes have stacked or mortared stone foundations, like this where the stones were cut into fairly rectangular(ish) shapes.

    crumbly-mortar-in-old-foundation-wall-v0-a4pjdvnrueaa1.jpg

Or like this with more mortar and irregular shaped stones.

    e7210275b0e9ced9f149c9aadd1742af.jpg

Dirt floors are still common in old houses too, often with a concrete pad for the furnace to sit on.
Next up is a rough thin concrete floor often called a "rat slab" so named for the intended purpose.

I’ve seen the cut stone and the thick mortar on home improvement shows like This Old House. Only from the outside, I don’t think they have ever shown the interior of the basements.

    That second crawlspace picture
