I replaced my rear drums and shoes last night along with a new spring kit. I adjusted until I barely felt a little drag on my shoes in the drum and called it good. Hopped in my truck and took her for a spin and the peddle goes down further now and my e brake peddle has hardly zero tension.
im assuming I did not adjust them far enough out? I tried the e brake method and all that but it didn’t really help. My question is after doing this job if your e brake is limp or no tension when pushing it is that most likely because it needs more adjustment? Thanks guys!

Hope it was a simple fix as above.
But if not, after you tighten up the shoes with the adjuster this assumes you have freed up/greased the lower pivot for the parking brake lever as many are frozen and do not move due to rust. If it does not move you will never get the shoes to step out and get tighter by applying the parking brake. If the parking brake pedal was tight and working before your replacement you should be fine but if not under the center console there is the adjustment to shorten/tighten the parking brake cable. Make sure the little arm that steps the adjuster is working and installed correctly as it can get restricted/hung up when you put the springs on.

Thank you! When I get home this afternoon I’m going to inspect inside and make sure everything is good to go. After watching videos I’m pretty sure I didn’t adjust them enough. I did grease all pivot points really well.

New shoes always do this, they aren’t perfectly round so once they break in there’s more clearance and softer pedal.

    Re adjusting is normal.
