So I'm not the sharpest egg in the crayon box................

I live in NE and we don't have any CA/CO type certification requirements (yet) but the wife and I really love CO, and wouldn't mind at some point owning property there.
I read the statement, but what exactly does this mean for current OTT customers?

We're in the process for rolling out the new files for the OTT CE calibration as we speak. We expect to have them available potentially as early as 12/15/2023 (More to follow on this soon). We'll be rolling out information as we approach full release. For now here's a few details to help understand the transition.

OTT CE calibration will be available for everyone but for current OTT Clients - This is not an "upgrade/update". This is a new calibration, so there is a small fee for anyone currently on OTT's latest release (9.0 for those who like numbers). Fee for the CE calibration is $50. This covers your retailer's expenses, the extra documentation required for OTT to maintain, the database to store the data in perpetuity, the printing of your SEMA CE Sticker/Certification of Emissions, etc.

This calibration is not required. However, OTT will no longer offer the "9.0" or earlier files. All future clients of OTT for the 3G 3.5L Tacoma will get the OTT CE calibration and be afforded the peace of mind that once the CARB EO is obtained, they can receive the CARB EO documentation/Sticker at no additional fee.

 

Thanks for clarifying this. I understand the extra fee, and that doesn't seem out of line at all. I honestly don't mind the extra fee, and will at some point most certainly get the updated CE calibration even though my current state does not actually check for this. I expect at some point to possibly be in a state that does check for this, so its definitely a welcome solution.

 

i wish i had more thumbs to give this all the thumbs up it deserves.

im in SoCal so whatever makes all this easier im more than happy to pay for. my sc'd truck is tuned but it seems.. not quite right. a tad rich probly. doing the whole 9 yards (dyno etcetc) at some point next year AND having it actually pass smog would be so awesome i can hardly imagine.

 

So my pre tune post asking about if there were any new versions in the works, the weekend before thanksgiving, was a valid question that just went unanswered.

I don’t care about the emissions but when there is a legit “upgrade”, this means I’ll have to pay the fee to get because of this?

 

Apologies for missing your question. The OTT series of tunes we've had until our announcement of the CE Calibration have all been free updates/upgrades. The OTT CE calibration is not that, it's new tune that we've developed entirely from the ground up to retain everything about 9.0 while being emissions compliant.

When there is an update to the standard OTT (7.0, 8.0, 9.0, etc.) files, you're welcome to get that update free of charge.

If you want the new tune that is SEMA CE compliant and eventually CARB EO approved, a charge is associated with that.

Ok, I guess I took the no longer offering v9 as a discontinuation of the non emission tune (no further updates/support). Thanks for the clarification

 

Does a custom tune adjust the shift points more to our liking? I'm really not happy with mine. It's fine for highway driving or heavy acceleration, but low speed (45mph and under) around town is aggravating. I have to drive in S4 to keep it from bogging down too low in RPMs.
