Installed my anytime camera. Bought it pre-wired so the install took about 30 minutes.

Also installed my MESO dual dome.

Walked out of our local Texas Roadhouse and tried to get in the wrong truck. Another DCSB Lunar Rock with hard tonneau and tinted windows was parked next to me. Got a little laugh and the realized the other guy/gal left me a set of raised Tacoma tailgate inserts on my windshield. Project for tomorrow.

Much nicer than the ducks jeep drivers leave each other.

1st oil change at ~ 7,500 miles. Installed the Fumoto 90-deg valve. Outlet aimed to the rear. Installed the Toyota aluminum filter housing. What a PITA.

Soaked the Fumoto valve in Fluid Film.

Seriously - could they make this any harder. I removed the safety catch because this thing wasn’t coming loose after -two- full turns. There must have been two quarts of oil behind the filter.

Surprisingly few metallic particles in the oil, so that’s good news. The Fram filter has more pleats, but I think I’ll just stick with the Toyota filter from now on.

Overall, the most time-consuming oil change I’ve ever done.

I spent the whole day in the garage with the truck on Jack stands. I replacing the rack and pinion bushings with the Energy Suspension Polyurethane bushings. It wasn’t easy! It was extremely frustrating at times and at points it seemed like it was going to be impossible.

I just got back from a test drive and it feels so much better and now the steering wheel is straight again.

Motivx.com for a tool that fits on the end of the filter housing ... makes removal easy. Comes with a screw-in drain tool (remove the bottom silver plate) and it removes almost all of the oil from the filter housing before you remove the filter. Many buy Motivx funnel as well because it stays steady in the oil-fill tube.

Yes! I was just doing some shopping for the drain tool and the screw-on funnel. Felt kinda pointless installing the Fumoto, and then getting a bucket of oil down my arm trying to remove the filter housing.

And the final insult - trying to refill the oil. Why - why didn’t Toyota have the oil filler pointed straight up instead of at an angle? It would have been so easy.

    Ah, Friday!

I was told once that the interior name was Hickory, which sounded like it made sense, but the spec sheet lists it as Sand Beige. What does your spec sheet say?

Ya that would be nice if they did. Also it would be nice if they didn’t wire the harness with a switch since I already have a switch panel. But all good

That’s awesome! I just debadged mine and removed the tailgate insert letters. Your secret Santa has inspired me to pass them on to the next bare tailgate I see in a parking lot.

Good work. Seems like when you believe a job is impossible, and I've certainly thought that at times myself on some jobs, and then you actually accomplish it successfully, it's all more satisfying. That does look like an impossible task.

I'll be parked at the Costco in Camas, Wa tomorrow at about noon if you're in the neighborhood. I'll leave a Costco dog and a bag of BBQ chips on the roof of my shell for ya.

I'm kidding of course, I have a set otw.

That's actually a cool idea to pay it forward. I'd be happy to find such a gift.

This is the Motivx drain tool. Screw-in the top part and no oil flows out. Screw the lower part into the already-treaded part and the oil flows. Better than "push in and prepare", my opinion.

Strap wrench is the worst thing you can use because it puts so much side pressure on it. Need a proper filter tool and it will be so much easier.
