LS6 Swap 2nd Gen Build + New Tundra

Nick Wilson Billet 102mm DBW throttle body just arrived.

 

He’s larger in person than in photos. 102mm. The machining is beautiful.

 

Just got word that the engine will be ready to pick up on Wednesday. All thats left are the push rods. He has the length and can get the engine bolted together!

this thing is 6.3 liters of beauty.

Roller rockers are beeeeefy

 

Headers on. Going to get a new starter right now, as well as steam vent bolts, coil pack bolts, everything I need to get this thing dropped back in the truck.

 

Motors back in!

still have 1 bell housing bolt to put in, and 2 engine mount bolts to put in, but its weight Is supported by the truck again. Had to completely cut the old coolant pipes to give clearance to the new oil pan. Super disappointed about that lol.

 

It's just money right.. lol good work on the quick transplant.

 

Minor hurdle compared to the sweetness of having it back in, in such a short time frame.

Which oil pan is it? The Sikky, or other?

 

Yeah, sikky pan. Looks and functions way better in there. Tonight I’m hoping to get the torque conveyer bolted to the flex plate, get the starter on, and start wiring stuff up.

 

So started tonight.

 

Idk about started, but primed for sure. It’s gonna take me a hot minute to put the plugs in since it’s already in the truck and the headers are on. I don’t have a functioning cooling system so it’s gonna run for like 3 minutes tops.

trans mount is done off of my transfercase, but I basically just have an extension off of the stock cross member. Lined up perfectly by coincidence. I doubt his mounts will work for 4x4. The front diff is in the way.

 

This is all that was needed to mount the Tremec TKX to the OE trans mount.

 

Sooo, I read this was, start for 2 minutes, burnout for 1 solid minute?

 

Haha I wish. Gotta break in the motor. 150 miles of driving on the break in high zinc oil, then 15w40 conventional for 850 miles, then 15w40 synthetic.

 

@Pittsy I get it, just wishful thinking was all haha. Excited to see this thing running! I have some family down in the Phoenix area that I visit 1-2 times a year, hopefully I'll get a chance to see the driving around town.

 

Got on the schedule with the hose guy to get the oil hoses made on Tuesday. First start will have to wait until then.



huge thank you to JD fab for taking these tie rods back and lengthening them for me. Given the circumstances, they had no obligation to help me out but they did free of charge anyways. Stand up guys over there. New tie rods fit perfect!
