In the past several of us have voiced about how great our Samsung refrigerators are  (NOT). The past couple of years I’ve been manually defrosting the ice maker every 2 weeks because it keeps icing over  This week it decided it wanted to be a deep freeze and started freezing everything in the refrigerator side. My wife said that it, she’s tired of the damn thing

She went to a local appliance store and we are now the proud owners of a new, old school GE side by side.

I’m not going to miss that Samsung

The wife and I are considering new appliances. The main criteria is... basic. We want the simplest least features

The Samsung we had wasn’t one of the really fancy models, just in door ice and water. Googling them and the icing problems it’s just a bad design. I won’t have another Samsung fridge, and I don’t know about any other Samsung appliances either.

The GE we bought is the model all of the employees at the store have. They all said the French door models from all manufacturers seem to have some type of issue. The GE is the one with the least problems and last for years.

My grand mother gave me the recipe for making ice cubes.

I saw no need to hook up the ice maker. I yanked it out. It took up too much space.

After coffee in the morning, all I drink is ice water. The in door ice and water are nice to have.

Good excuse to buy a new one.

When mine did the freeze up it was a simple defrost timer like $20.00 a few years ago.

Works fine but is mostly empty all the time but for water and ice cubes.

The fridge was the only Samsung product we’ve ever had. It was enough to turn me against the brand.

Over the 10 years we had it I’ve replaced a lot of parts. Thermistors, ice maker, added a secondary heater, added ice maker heater. All supposed to fix the problems but never did. I’m glad to see it go.

i can not even remember what brand without looking.

It was free so a few dollars in parts was well spent.

We redid our old kitchen with every appliance Samsung, after 10 years the fridge is the only thing that hasn’t been replaced.
