    Good Morning, :dancingbacon::burp:

I've been researching and reading reviews on microwaves, ranges and washing machines. Seems they're all boat anchors no matter the brand and extended warranties are highly recommended. They don't make them like they used to.

I just gotta voice my opinion....

I always thought Samsung was crap (and it is) but...

We've had a Maytag washing machine (got 2 glorious years out of that one )

After it died a rather sudden death we got a GE. Made right here in the good ol USA (Ky, to be precise).....its gotta be good, right? I mean...we made that one.
Nope, huge piece of shit. Survived 6 days, then she blew a head gasket. Or whatever.

    In summary....
It doesnt matter what you get (Samsung, Maytag, GE, Whirlpool, freakin Fruit of the Loom)... .they're all shit. When corporations outsource cheap crappy parts...there's only so much that can be done with them. Which equals.....shit.

    So, my personal opinion:
Buy the cheapest appliance that you can get, splurge for the longest extended warranty that you can get, and hold onto that warranty like grim death. You're gonna need it.

Tightened the door up and straightened it in the frame. Good right?
Nope. When they put the door in they set the sill plate like 1” to far out. No wonder I had a fuck of a time closing it. Pulled the masonry nails and saved them. Redid the sill plate and added the scuff plate which it never had. Will find out when it gets cold again.

My garage side door has never had any weatherstripping on it. I decided to remedy that last week. I started with a 1.5” rubber strip, that only tamed the draft a bit. So I oiled the door surface and followed it up with some spray foam in the gap all the way around from the outside. Once the foam setup I cut it off the door, the door opens and closes and the draft is 99% gone. Not the right or best way to get the job done but it worked with the supplies on hand.
    IMG_4135.jpg

We'll see how it holds up over the winter, but I'll probably clean it up a bit and paint the foam white so it doesn't stand out so much the next time it gets warm.

A busy and beautiful day here.
Cleaned up all the old bits -o- furnace.

    KIMG3675.jpg

Did some gutter cleaning & repair, this might be part of the water problem, the hill slopes towards the house.
Yeah, the roof is in rough shape - over 35 years old...

    KIMG3678.jpg

Ran the gas out of the wood chipper and the clunker New Holland, the old girl made it through another season with only minor repairs for once... Tires...:annoyed:

She went through about a case of oil...

    KIMG3676.jpg

    Pulled the batteries too.
Some folks don't like the batteries from The Mart - this one came used with some clunker I bought, the battery is from 3/16!

    KIMG3677.jpg

I check/top up the water and put them on the battery tender now & then for the winter.
