So I’m trying to wire my light bar to come on with my high beams and also have the ability to turn on with a switch so what I understand is I need a 3 position switch and not the one that comes from DD or can I just run a wire to the positive side of the switch from my high beam socket I also have the headlights harness so the passenger side socket is not being used just taped up. I searched YouTube and on this form but I just can’t figure it out since everyone uses different methods thanks

This is what I would do:
Install an SPDT relay (amp rated for your lights).
    • Tap the high beam for your trigger
    • Install a diode on that high beam tap line that leads to the 85pin of the relay
    • Install a toggle switch and attach that on the same trigger wire, but between the diode and the high beam connector. This will prevent voltage from flowing back into the high beam when you engage the toggle switch
    • Wire the rest of the SPDT as normal
Make sure you have the diode facing the correct way. The silver stripe should be closest to the relay end. If you want to be super safe, install a second diode on the toggle switch line.

This is how I would do it:

OTRATTW switch SPDT, don't use the switch I outlined in the diagram above since that switch is a momentary switch (unless you really want to keep holding your finger on the switch every time you use it), however the switch I linked has the same wiring diagram so the above diagram will work. If you don't want to use an inline diode but want a switchable source for better control, then I would do what is pictured.

Hello I was going to connect to my high beam to activate the light but also wanted to add a switch to turn off the light bar when on road use and still use my high beams without light bar. I want to connect a switch between aux lead and high beam connector what size fuse or amp switch. does this make sense? All new to me thanks for your help
