Looking to downsize from my 2014 Tundra SR 4.6 4x4 double cab.

    Features that I need:
-4x4 I live where a lot of snow is possible and I drive down a 1/2 mile dirt road that is not maintained by the state
    -Double cab
-Towing. I have a 14ft double axle trailer that I occasionally tow with a 2,000 pound car on. I also use the trailer to buy a ton or two of heating fuel about once a year. I pull a small 14 foot fishing boat and I'd like to carry a small 310cc motorcycle from time to time.
    Things that I like:
    -Electric windows, locks etc
    -Back up camera
    -Heated mirrors
-Taking calls with my android phone.

I'd like to compare a step up in engines. Fords 2.7 looks appealing. Toyota step up from the base sr looks like it can get the job done.

Correct me if I'm wrong but pricewise they look close.

    Which one and why?

Whichever one meets your needs better, test drives should help too.

Right now '24s are just on paper for most of us.

So no one can offer much real world advice. Of course the amenities, but not the actual behavior for the other things you want to compare.

Just know neither one will tow as well as your Tundra.

I just saw an ad for about 8k off on a GMC or Chevy 1500. I think those are going to start coming back soon on the domestics. My local Ram dealer is loaded with trucks and jeeps. I would test drive both, and if I like them the same buy the Ford if the rebates come back.

Had a look see what they are going for here. Yep, starting to see some discounting, which seems like a great deal with the inflated prices. ;)

At this price why would you buy a mid-size? At the bottom, another $1000 off if you’re a Costco member.

Once the 24’s are out and about on the lots of America and you need a hauler, the scary part is going to be dealing with one that has 5-10 miles on it from testing and knowing that heads before you were thrashing the pedal to feel the turbo power. On a brand new engine. Hopefully dealers will be strict.

The 2.7 Ranger looks promising, but the only bed option is the 5', so that would be tight for me. A double cab SR5 with a 6' bed would work, but pricing wise an SR5 Tundra with the 6.5' bed and serious horsepower ends up being very close in price.

Supposedly they will do the 2.7 later in 2024. But have not seen a time frame.

I could not find anything either. I guess it doesn’t have them. Score one for the 4Runner.
