I am from PA spent three years going into Pittsburgh driving a F250. Didn’t really have any issue. Not sure why anyone would even own a vehicle in NYC. Let alone a full-size truck. Have been all over this country, outside of NYC or Boston…really not much of an issue. The new ‘24 Tacoma is the same size as the old pre-2000s fullsizes, so not exactly a small truck like they used to be.

    Width
    ‘24 Tacoma 77.9”
    ‘24 F150 79.9”

Think those people who have trouble parking are going to have some issues with the new Tacoma.

But yeah most trucks are vanity purchases, majority of us could get by with an eco box sedan.

And that’s just an off-road, I wonder what the TH and Pro will command when it shows up, seems like $70k is within reach.

I think those are the highest dealer markups so far. Also wonder how much PIO items have been added.

I had a Sport reserved as of last Saturday at MSRP and then the window sticker came in three days later with an additional 7k of options. Dealer should have never quoted me without knowing all the details. Ended up finding another dealer with an Off road coming in so I was able to grab that one, which I preferred. During this ordeal I contacted 90% of the dealers in my area and it's pretty clear that virtually all of the TRD and SR5 models will initially be option heavy. So not likely to see any TRD models close to the base msrp.

when my local dealer said they would start at about 3k over, i started calling around and found 2 dealerships that said they don't go over MSRP so I will be staying in touch with them over the next few months waiting for my combo to come in...

All the dealers I went to here in the northeast are at msrp with no markup. So apparently there is one and only one good reason to live in the northeast.

Even at MSRP the shits a joke. OP posted a $52k Tacoma without the $2.5k markup.

    $50k, for a TACOMA!

    LMFAO

You can get an F150 Lightning Pro or a ZR2 at that price.... Hell even the Ranger Raptor is like $55k.

Could get a nicely optioned Chevy Trailboss for $41,600. Better looking exterior and interior, bit more torque at 391 ft/lbs vs 317. Factory 2” lift, 32” tires. Unfortunate no 6’ bed or I might be all over that.

Yeah Toyota has lost their marbles with this 4th gen pricing. They absolutely overpriced it to carve out a $25k-$38k unibody with a bed maverick competitor.

They might get people leaving the brand, especially with the competitors really stepping up [for less].

Only thing they have going is the reliability lure, which with a totally new platform is unproven at this time. We won’t know if it is any good for at least another 5 years. Might be the time to try something else, could always trade in before the warranty is up on those.

My buddy has the Colorado TB and the hp and torque is certainly well above the Toyota however I felt like the interior was from 1983. Lots of faux chrome. Trucks in general are getting out of control. Sucks

1983!? Great! I am sucker for nostalgia.lol! I haven’t been in one personally, have only seen them driving out and about. Good looking truck. Long time Toyota fan boy, but certainly looking at other options.

Yeah, trucks are out of control. We are currently on the down slope of a financial slide, we will see where prices go, already seeing discounts. Year from now might be pretty good. Looks like all the pandemic funny money that was pumped into the economy has been exhausted.

Yeah the funny money is the reason why buying used for me is out of the question. Repos are on the rise and I've got this image in brain of all the unsavory things folks did back during the 08 housing foreclosure crisis. Pouring cement in the toilets. My luck I'll get that guys car. So here I am paying 50k for a new truck that was 26k when i bought my 09. Wonderful.

Thinking if you don’t absolutely need a new truck, give it a year and see how this all pans out. Was looking at local inventory, you can get a crew cab 4WD 1/2 ton under $40K. 12 months from now, might be even better.
