I look forward to learning much offer suggestions when I can for success for others. I have a '19 Tacoma TRD PRO, and I am beginning to build it for rougher terrain. I'm looking for a much better front approach angle and departure angle, too. The front bumper with a "hidden" winch or out in front if it helps the approach angle. Also the rear bumper with the best departure angle departure angle, but with dual swing outs for spare tire and gear.

I'd like to get your feedback, please, on what has proven quality over time for you. I'd much rather buy quality or build it if necessary. Please include equipment maker and model and if you have them, please show photos if you have them.

    Welcome to TW forums.

Here there are nearly 20 years worth of accumulated postings on every Toyota-Tacoma-related off-road/overlanding topic you can think of. Tons of manufacturer-specific commentary, photos, recommendations. Many super-competent technical deep dive threads. It's all here, it's the internets. Probably 98% of what you want to know has already been covered in great depth. Search is your friend.

If you are looking for a faster, higher-confidence route to building out your rig, highly recommend contacting local professional off-road builder of your choice. For suspension in particular (not general / overall build-outs) I had good experience with Accutune Offroad. (Not affiliated, don't know them, never worked for them, etc. Just another satisfied customer.)

    Start with these.

Once all have been installed, check back in and post photo.

Depends on what your definition of overlanding means.

if approach and departure angles are critical to you, you should've bought a jeep. :/ best start with a sawzall. bed chop, bumper chop.

There are a lot of good builders on here- work with a local one to get help and also to save money. What town are you in?

Is this overlanding solely for looks and cool factor?

Or is this a weekend maybe a week max type of thing?

Also do you plan on going home after a weekend or a few additional days?

Or are you planning on thousands of miles of travel and only returning home when you are done?

Are there other countries/states involved if it’s long term?

OP judging from your username, we are in the same vicinity. Welcome.
Having gone done the "Overlanding" road before with a 5th Gen 4Runner I can honestly say tread cautiously. This is my opinion only and others will most likely disagree, however, I firmly believe that Toyota Tacomas and 4Runners do not like to be overly built. Having owned 6 Jeeps, I can say go nuts with those, as they typically can handle most things.

It starts with some bumper swaps, and then its a slippery slope to lift, tires, wheels, winch, RTT, skids, roof racks, lights, and 700lbs of unnecessary "overlanding" equipment. So unless you want to flex at a SEMA event, I would really think about what it is you want to do with your Taco. I'm also a firm believer of "buy once cry once" because cheaping out always leads to disappointment as well. Aftermarket front and rear bumpers are heavy enough, and that is before you start adding anything else you may need. Keep payload in mind which isn't much for these trucks.

These trucks especially the OffRoad and Pro are VERY capable as they are stock, and you will be able to get virtually anywhere your overlanding heart desires. With that said I am always a fan of upgrades especially in the suspension department because I think even the Pro stock suspension is pretty lousy for most things offroad and not much better onroad.

If you plan on taking your truck to Windrock, then plan on investing a good 20k in upgrades to do it right and a lot of cutting and trimming.

I'll explain it, since I posted it.

I swear that, when I had read OP's inaugural TW post, it sounded as if he was asking for someone to spoon feed him what they felt were all the best pieces of equipment to do a complete build...including the part numbers for each and every item, together with photos.

Re-reading it now, it seems that's not the case.

I don't see a little "Edited" notation in his post, so I presume what I read tonight is exactly what I had read originally.

In retrospect. I think I might have been half asleep or drunk when I had first read OP's post. Probably the former. But, maybe a little of both.

To answer the question that apparently was posted by OP and that I had initially misinterpreted, take look at BAMF. Quality bumpers, but they don't come cheap.
