New member here. I wanted to share me and my gf's build of our beach ride here in Hawaii. We are having fun adding new parts and hope to add more.

The Ride: 2013 Tacoma SR5 / mileage: 135K / Started life in S. Carolina, now living in Hawaii.

This is the first thing we got, Rough Country seat covers. Same fit (and quality so far) as Wet Okole, and at a fraction of the cost!! $100 vs. $365 (just for the front seats)

    upload_2023-12-10_2-28-22.jpg

Stock 2020 Sport suspension off Facebook Marketplace for $100. Seller said less than 5k miles on them.

    upload_2023-12-10_2-30-2.jpg

Driveway install with leveling spacers in the front and a 1" block in the rear. We like the raked look and the block gave us the look we wanted. Spacer and block were new and were about $150 combined.

    upload_2023-12-10_2-38-16.jpg

Got newer stock Sport rims off Facebook Marketplace for $300 and new tires (265/R70/17) for a couple hundred a piece (didn't want to deal with used tires). Sold the stock steelies for $350 as well. We couldn't transfer the stock TPMS from the original rims due to the angle of the new rims and we refused to pay $250 for a set of new aftermarket ones. Now the light is on and I have to figure out how to turn it off. Hate to cut stock wires but I might have to since the light drives me crazy and it might not pass our yearly safety inspection here in Hawaii.

Thule racks off Facebook Marketplace for $250 (a deal!).

    upload_2023-12-10_2-40-13.jpg

Bought new running boards from Toyota for $350. We wanted these exact ones and couldn't find anything used online.

Thinking about putting 1" wheel spacers for a wider look but still deciding. Any thoughts on this?

    upload_2023-12-10_2-44-1.jpg

    Parts/mods we might look into:

Tesla/Tacoma head unit (made in China and not the best reviews but looks so cool!)

    1" Wheel spacers

    Bed mat

We only use the truck for the beach or running errands on the weekends (maybe 200 miles a month). We want the truck to last for a while since the new trucks are so ridiculously expensive!!

    THANKS FOR LOOKING!! :)

here is some TPMS help that was quick and easy fix for my 09..

went in after it and got it done on my 2009. 5v jumper installed on the blue wire at IJ1 connector. works great. :)
I also used input from an alternate thread ...

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/complete-tpms-disable-guide.161292/page-4

for those who have not tripped over this rock before, I did about 6 hrs research and poking around to decide what to do. Installing the jumper to resolve the TPM light condition literally fixed it in 15 minutes....very easy looking back at it.

thanks to the Vigo in the original post and all those of provided valuable input.

So no cutting wires? Just let the wires run as usual but jump two of them where they lay?

I second the recommendation for the jumper to disable TPMS, I did the same to the blue wire on my 2013. Very easy and in my opinion the best, easily accessible, reversible, and all it does is turn off the bulb in the cluster it doesn't screw around with the actual TPMS modules and stuff.

You'll find mixed opinions on the wheel spacers on here. There's a lot of people running them though with no issues as long as you're sticking to 1-1.5" and a quality hubcentric one like Spidertrax or Bora and follow directions regarding loctite/checking torque

    thanks for all the help!

Vote NO on the spacers. The current stance looks correct and any rocks you fling with those AT tires will stay contained inside the wheel wells (protecting your paint, glass, and other cars).

Nice build otherwise and congrats on the hot GF.

I’m not saying it currently looks bad by any means, but Bora makes 3/4” spacers. I run them on my 2014 AC, have for probably 6+ years now, no issues.

The back of my rims have some space for the lugs if they stick out. Not sure if it’s enough for 3/4”. Don’t want to deal with new lugs just to make it work.

I ordered KSP 1” spacers. Gonna put one on and see how it fits/looks and then decide to road test all 4.
    Thanks!

Interesting, if I recall, the BORA spacers use your OEM studs to attach themselves, then have their own studs that connect to the wheel. Yours may just be a true spacer all using the OEM studs. I could be wrong but I thought that’s how the BORa ones work. Haven’t taken my wheels off in a long time so I sort of forget.

Nothing to add… just that it looks great! And question: I’ve always heard the line that vehicles in Hawaii rust from the top down. Is that true or BS?

The sun and salt air will take a toll if you don't take extra special care. I keep a fresh coat of wax on my vehicles and shoot them down after beach days...:mudding::)
