@Hook78 tipped me to tour his county's ABCs after work today. Fantastic dude. Arrived home with a hell of a load of firewater, all at MSRP.

So here’s what I came up with yesterday, this was the county’s yearly Christmas drop. It was a pretty good one.

Am I wrong to be irritated that the JD label is crooked? First world problems.

I assume mine is infinitely more valuable for having a crooked label. It’s a one-off. Still going to call Jack Daniels and demand they send me a Coy Hill to compensate me.

Went to a shop I don’t visit often, as they were having their 12 days of christmas! They had some bottles that you just don’t see and are sought after…but I just couldn’t spend what this shop was asking. For the really hard to get bottles, like Michters, JD10, JD12, MWND, all going $200-300 a pop, some even more. Oh well, I’ll continue to hunt :)

I liked it. A lot more than I thought i would. I generally never go for a finished whisky, but maple syrup honestly just sounded pretty good today.

it smells amazing, great nose. Taste was thick and syrupy, obviously maple but no where near as sweet or as maple as I was afraid it might be.

i enjoyed it neat, and this was just a single neck pour but it was much better than I was expecting. I guess i had a sugary, flavored bourbon in my head and it was neither of those things. Looking forward to letting it rest a bit and trying it again.

Definitely a hint of freshly ground Slovakian green peppercorns in the finish.

They had a few of these, or the smaller bottle bourbons. But here’s how there pricing goes, if it gives an idea.

    EHT Small Batch - $90
    Blanton’s - $100
    Michters Straight Rye - $300
    Michters 10yr Bourbon -$300
    JD10 - $200
    JD12 - $300
    WB Saffel - i think $70? I could be off on that..I don’t remember.
Woodford - $150 (pretty fair, or comparable to what I’ve heard.
Pikesville rye - $50 seems fair
    Parkers Heritage - was a special bottle - I think $499??
The bookers were about what I see at other shops - $110, although Costco here has the MIghty Fine Batch for $80
    Elijah Craig B23 - $90

That’s about what I can remember. Just nothing I wanted to spend on.
