Have a standard sliding glass door in the basement. Some day I hope to have the ~$2k to swap it out with french doors, but that is not likely until 2025

In the meantime, I would LOVE to be able to lock/unlock the door from both sides.

Is this possible? Is there an aftermarket kit or something anyone know of?

Put a key lock in it. It's about your only option

The circle on the outside handle in the first pic is drilled out and that is where the lock cylinder goes
