I am a 68 year old woman who does SOME of my own mechanics. This has me pulling my hair out.
I have a 2008 Nissan Sentra. My headlights turn on but my taillights dont. We replaced bulbs, checked all the fuses, checked the voltage in the battery, checked the relays. Any ideas would be appreciated!!!

    Welcome.

Not familiar with your vehicle, but... Has there been ANY other event whatsoever when this happened? Anything else replaced or worked on, even if thought of as non-related? Anything else whatsoever not working either, again even if not related? Wipers, radio, vent selection... Unfortunately some things get tied together hidden in the nether regions.

Also, is it the "marker" lights, or the brake lights when pressing the pedal? Or no lights at all?

If you checked the voltage then you have access to a multimeter? I'm thinking start hitting all the usual suspects with that. Check the tail sockets, check where the wires terminate into the tails, then start working your way upstream.

Do the front ambers illuminate in parking mode? Those should be on the same circuit as the tails.

This could also be related to the 4 way flasher, switch or relay. By design the brake signals pass through on their way out.
