Does the engine die if you press the pedal hard?
Asking because I don’t want to kill the engine on a main road.

Mine didn't. It just would not rev past 1900-2000 rpm. Everything else was completely normal

The factory system doesnt have valet mode, but we have seen it on aftermarket alarms/remote starters.

When we have issues up here the first thing we do is check for a remote starter. Not sure how common they are in the states.

Well, it looks like it is for the Ucon-ems.
    Not a factor ECM setting.
And you are NOT the first to have the issue.

You have a launch mode too. 4 presses.

    Send it…..

    Don’t feel bad.

    It happens.
    We can’t know everything.

I still pay people to do things I don’t know how too.
I don’t do AC or Transmission.

I have helped do some AC work, but I still don’t feel comfortable doing it myself.
So I’ll pay to have that done…….

Ya that's why I went to my buddy. I use your phrase all the time at home and work haha test don't guess. I like to prove my theory after I think I know what's going on.

Ya man. I can do ok with some guidance from guys like y'all. But I know when I'm beat and also when I don't have a lot of time. Lately I've been able to only spend a hour or so a week looking at it. Wasn't enough time to figure it out so I just send it off

When I was 17 I installed KC HiLites
I blew a fuse, replaced the fuse, and the truck wouldn’t start.
Off to the dealer the truck went.
Uhhhhhh……. Somebody put the fuse back in the wrong the slot.

We all learn, sometimes it cost us a little money.

I am one of those that learns the hard way.
Sometimes is cost money, some times it cost me a lot of time.

I’ve learned all I know about electrical here on TW.
There was a time when an electrical schematic was nothing more than colored lines and shapes.
    I still don’t know a lot.

To be honest, I like to know how stuff works.
    Not work on stuff…..

Yea undocumented control strategies are really annoying when it comes to diagnosing an issue where said strategy is causing the issue.

Or diagnosing what the last guy did:eek:
Figure out what the last guy did, then figure out what the problem was to begin with.

That's why I try to avoid working on "modified" vehicles, stock stuff can be difficult enough but aftermarket tuning or mods can add in alot of unknown variables.

Ya my truck barely has stock so it's really a challenge haha. What's funny is I work on boilers and pumps and controls for my day job so I constantly am messing with electrical and I'm pretty darn good. But man oh man is it a different world then dc haha

Fundamentals are the same, just with DC current only flows one way and in automotive your dealing with much lower voltages for the most part (hybrid & electric vehicles are a different story though).
