I just bought a 4ch amp for my Tacoma, and wanted to run a new set of speakers and wires to my doors. Only issue is the door boot. How do you suppose I go around?

Edit: Poked thru the door boots, stuffed the opening with silicone and shot rubberized paint over it. Hope it holds!

Not sure how handy you are, or the tools available to your disposal, but I used a dremel on some empty spots in the plastic plug inside the rubber door boot. I widened the area enough to run larger than stock wire through (I believe my wire was 14ga). After I was done running the wire to where I needed it in the doors, I placed the plastic plugs back in place with the rubber boot back in its place. Hopefully that gives you a good idea.

The best way to do it is to take your sweet time: Pull out the boot plugs from both ends (door and body) and disconnect the harnesses in the kick panel (for front doors). Then use a wire fish to get through the boot. Then wrap at least 4-5” of speaker wire to the wire fish using electrical tape. Tape tightly and make smooth transitions so it doesn’t snag as you pull through. Take your time working it through. There is a slotted opening in the boot…you can use that if it helps.

The first time is a little tough but you’ll quickly get a feel for it for next 3 doors. It seems like a lot of work but it looks clean and there is just enough room for 16-12 awg wire. I used 14 awg to the doors. Just be gentle with the harnesses...you’ll get a feel for disconnecting them.
