Hello, airbag light on in my new to me taco, previous owner had the code read and it indicated the driver's seat, found a yellow airbag connector that should be double locking but is only locked once, which from what I've researched means that it is shorting itself out and throwing the airbag light.
My question is can I just solder the wires together and cut out the connector altogether and will this get rid of my airbag light?
or will I have to replace the connector? (90980-11864 and 11863)
    2009 2.7L 4X4, no accidents.
    thanks in advance

So I did a little more fault isolation and figured out that the airbag code was code 21, using the paperclip? flashing light method. Pointed me at the driver's side impact sensor. Took off the trip next to the seat and found the sensor severely corroded. Tried to clean it and reinstall but light stayed on. Ordered a new one from the local Toyota dealer and now my airbag light goes out. ready for Safety inspection tomorrow.

Seems it's always a connector or a sensor with the SRS.

    Glad you found the issue.

I'm in the middle of rebuilding a 21 Tundra with 4 blown bags. Your issue will be much cheaper than what I got going on.

That sounds like a monster project, hope it goes well for you.
Turns out I've got more work to do to pass inspection, they are pretty thorough here. couple of ball joints, steering shaft and rear shocks are the highlights.
Rock Auto parts ordered and I'll be attempting the work on my own. glad to be here with all the resources available.

It's a big chore, but not that bad. I've done it several times. Every time It just gets easier. The parts only fit one way.

    You ain't kidding!

We got so many with an unhealthy fear of any risk, I wonder how they can find the courage to get behind the wheel.

I'm lucky at this point that I have access to an extra vehicle, a garage and a little bit of time to do all this. I'm pretty good at getting in over my head as well. I've changed a clutch, struts and a few other things on my Element but this is my first bit of truck work. I will keep doing a few updates now and again. I'll be leaning heavily on the experience of others here and on the tube as well. Already have the steering shaft thread bookmarked, I think that's going to be the hardest one.
