ok so i really like the look of stock. i like my stock head unit. so here is my question

if i have a stock head unit. they should or do make a pigtail to wire in a aux cable?

also since i want to keep my stock head unit i know the sound quality would not be the same as a quality player.. and there is minimal power for nice speakers.. i will be running an amp for my highs so thats the not the issue. a stock head unit does not have alot of adjustment
is it possible to run the stock head unit thru an equalizer? if so that would solve my issues with staying with a stock head unit

yea i should update it.. yes its a 2002 double cab..

i just decided i want to put in a stereo.. all my other trucks i have had massive systems but i want something aimple that sounds great..

i want to go with 6.5 kicker components in the front 5 1/4 components in the rear..

with two 8" kicker cvt subs

with ample amps to make perform..

maybe i will just have to break out and get a head unit i just dont like the look anymore of having a aftermarket one.. kinda like a sleeper stereo lol

ive heard of pigtails for chevys that you can have an aux plug with a stock head unit.. also i know you can run amps and what not with a stock head unit still

im just curious if i do stay with a stocker and get a nice equalizer with that even out the sound quality issue?

i think that will just be too much for what its worth.. this truck is just my driver. i think i will just have to get a head unit.. just a nice one so i dont get pissed off at a cheap one

ok so this is what i ended up doing..

    stock head unit
    clarion equalizer w/ aux port
    front got kicker ks6502 components
    rear got kicker ks5x7
600wx4 amp i forgot the name.. i was goin to go with kicker amp the 400.4 but i gpt a good deal on this one. i think its performance technique i will look lol

and for the base im going to stick with the plan..
    a box from supercrewsound.com for 2000-2004 double cab.. holds 2 8" or 10"

i think im going to stick with the 8" kicker cvt they call for .4" air space and the box im getting has .6" sealed.

i might go with the same amp company i have now... althought the 8"s wont bang they will give it a nice punch with a clean crisp sound.. i will get all this done for under 1k too so im pumped
