I bought my first Tacoma (as a retirement gift to myself), a 2023 SR5 about 3 months ago after retiring at the ripe old age of almost 70, so this is probably my last vehicle. I don't really care for the black 16" wheels, much prefer silver. I found a new set of 4Runner wheels but they're 17". My tires are 245/75 R16; since I don't want to have the speedometer off by too much, would it be advisable to shift to a lower profile tire if I buy the 17" wheels? How do I calculate what profile I would need to keep the speedo accurate? Thank you in advance for any help!

Sorry, can’t help you (mechanical moron here) but congrats on the retirement and I too prefer chrome or aluminum as opposed to the black out (I’m old too!) enjoy your new ride!!

I’m not a professional by any means but you could probably go down to 245/70r17 and it wouldn’t be off by much

Welcome and congrats! I don’t think it’ll change much but I’m also not very knowledgeable about cars in general. Interco.com should show you the change. I went from stock to 32s and it shows at 45 mph I’m actually going 48.

    Welcome! Hide your wallet, immediately!

The combination that you are talking about is known as a plus 1 application, and will be fine. The first number (245) is the tread width, the changes will be the sidewall profile (75) and the wheel diameter (16), so you will go from what you have (245/75r16) to the new 245/70r17, and you won't have to worry about the speedometer.
