A worsening rattle is coming from the dash, louder in cooler weather. Between the defrost vents and the center of the dash.
    Anyone else?
Videos and tech tips do not address that area as far as I can tell.

most people find it at the passenger speaker, the grille rattles, usually stuff some material there to fix it.

i got a rattle where the A-pillar meets the dash on the passenger side. Looks like the trim covering the a-pillar is rubbing against the dash or windshield. that one seems to have gone away since the weather has warmed up.

I also have a rattle in my overhead console where the headliner meets the plastic. Looks like some of the layers of headliner have become unglued. I glued it again 24 hours ago, just waiting for the glue to cure and we'll see if that fixes anything. I also noticed the "SOS" button on the overhead console isn't really secured welll to the console. It kind of just rattles around loosely. Might try taping that up too if the rattle persists.

I also have another annoying rattle coming from the driver's side access cab door. The door panel seems to be contacting the glass just a tiny bit and makes a rattle noise when driving over rough roads which is most of them here in NC. Anyone have any experience with access cab door rattles? anything to look for? I'm going to remove the panel and tape up the contact points but haven't gotten around to it yet. Need some torx bits.

OP, have you tried pushing down on the dash when it makes the noise? you might have the same issue as me where the dash is hitting the glass on rough roads.

As long as I’ve owned this truck since new, the rattle sounds have only increased. The pillar rubs on the speaker cover making it squeak. The windows rattle when rolled down. Where the seat belt is bolted in rattles. My leafs squeak every time I get in and out. When I sit on the front passenger seat, the railing has a rattle. But I just make the radio louder. But I don’t get noise from where you are saying it’s coming from.

Rattles are a bear to chase down sometimes. It getting worse in cool weather doesn't surprise me since those materials will contract a bit in colder weather, and expand in the heat. As someone suggested, see if you can track it down by pressing down on the dash where it rattle and see if you can make it stop. That will narrow the location for you.

so i glued the headliner where it was seperating and it made no difference. Took the overhead console out and the "SOS" button is kinda just loosely in the hole. It can move around a bunch and it rattles on rough roads. I don't know if something fell off that is supposed to hold it in place or are all of them so loose?

mine rattles when it's cold too in the center of the dash. I pushed on it and it stopped so I know its that area. I put some foam on it and it worked for a while and now the rattle came back. It almost sounds like something is loose. I

Lol. Yep, the dang access cab door panel. I’ve been chasing that for two years. I finally removed the door panel and stored it in my house. Someday I’ll try again, but at least for now it can’t rattle in my ear.

I had this same issue. There are metal tabs attached to the door where the plastic panels rests. I applied some Gorilla tape over the metal tabs, as well as on surfaces where the panel can contact the door. This did the trick. It took me two times to get it all.

But, my seat belt reel in the driver's door rattles on certain road surfaces and turns, and I have squeaks and rattles from the dash and dome light. It is much worse when it's cold outside. If I gently tap my tailgate and the side of the bed, the wheel well liners and who knows what else rattle. Mechanically after 31K miles the truck has been good so far, but in terms of fit and finish it is a pos. The second worse vehicle I have ever owned. We own a 2009 Camry with 225K miles, and it is more solid and rattles less than the tacoma.

I am not one to sell or trade vehicles unless they are at the end of life or have major mechanical issues and it is too costly to repair. I look forward to and won't miss this one when it's time for another vehicle.
