Bought a new to me 2022 TRD Sport with now 17k miles. I have noticed a bit of shaking under braking so I’m thinking the front rotors might be warped? Would this be something Toyota would cover under Toyota Care or would they call it normal wear and tear and I pay out of pocket?

I believe I have read that the OEM rotors aren’t the best?

I believe those would be a wear item and not covered

I would give it a few hard stops and see if it goes away. Rotors warp far less often than pads deposit material onto the rotors. If it doesn’t go away after several hard stops from 50 or so mph, then get them changed. Probably not warranty.

If u just bought the truck it should be covered under the dealer used car warranty . It’s an item they should have checked to sell the vehicle . Take it back to the dealer don’t pay out of pocket for repair that the dealer should have fixed prior to sale .

Used vehicles are sold as is, anything covered under new car limited warranty still applies but this isn't a warranty item. Should have had a PPI to address any issues. That being said, many franchise dealers will still stand behind the vehicle sold to avoid any negative online presence.

As BLtheP said 99% of the time it's pad build up on rotors. Do as he said, or pull them and clean them up. Not covered, usually past 1yr/12,000.

Incorrect used cars from dealers have a short term warranty anywhere from 30 to 90 days from purchase .the reason behind this is to protect buyers from getting ripped off . Say u buy a used car from a dealer and the transmission blows within the first 15 days of ownership. The dealer then would be responsible for the repair . Most states it’s a law .

Says who? Ha ha. So I buy a 2001 F-250 with 300,000 miles and it has a warranty! Score.
BTW totally not correct, it is dealer specific.

Depends on what you purchased, as-is or has a warranty. Check your paperwork. Side note: There’s nothing wrong with oem rotors and pads.

Depends on the dealership. My daughter bought a used Honda Civic with over 80k miles and the AC went out about a month after she bought the car.
She and my wife went back to guy who sold us the car and told him they are not leaving until they fix the AC. They fixed it.

I believe I bought the car with an As-Is warranty from the Jeep dealer but still have Toyota warranty and still fall under the Toyota care 2 year maint thing. The 2 year maint thing is what I pretty much am questioning. I take it those just cover regular oil changes and visual checks?

I did 2-3 hard stops and it seemed to help a little but issue came right back. Maybe I can try a couple more hard stops.

How long ago did you buy the truck? Typically and depending on what state you live in there are used car warranties. At the very least the dealer should have picked up on the warped rotors before selling the truck and either replaced or cheaper out and resurfaced them. If you bought it recently I would fight with them about it.

It doesn't cost anything to ask. Toyota has been known to cover things outside of the warranty. I had a rear window leaking with about 40,000 miles, but the truck was 2 years old at the time. My local dealer fixed it at no cost.

I had to replace a U-Joint at 170,000 miles. Toyota reimbursed me and informed me that they would pay for any other bad U-joints up to 200,000. It was part of a recall, but the rear leaf springs were replaced at no charge to me at 200,000 miles.

It shouldn't cost you over $30 to have both front rotors turned if they are warped. I've had to get mine turned twice. Still have the factory rotors at 243,000 miles but will need new ones with the next brake job.

If Toyota doesn't help a lot of car dealers will help with this. I'm betting they'd let you bring it in pay to have the rotors turned. Wouldn't cost them much and they'd like to see a happy customer. What they must do varies by state.
