Yesterday, I had a new windshield installed on my Tacoma truck by Safelite. When I removed the securing tape later that day, I noticed two small dings (really more depressions) under where the securing tape was placed. The installer did mention that the wax I used made the securing tape not stick well, so they had to scrub to remove it. I'm not 100% sure the dents were there before, but I'm pretty sure I would have noticed them. Do I have a valid case?

Pics are helpful. Sounds like they used a little persuasion to make the tape stick.

Thanks, but the dings (depressions) really don't show up well on camera. I just have a keen eye for body damage.

It sounds to me like someone was making excuses for leaning onto your car causing the dents. The metal is so thin on cars and it doesn't take much to damage the surface. The installer was probably leaning on the surface for what ever reason. I had a windshield and back window glass professionally installed on my 65 Galaxie restoration project and got into it with the installer several times because he would not stop leaning on the body and then he chipped the back glass beating the trim around the windows back in place. They said I caused the problems because I was there during the install. The installer didn't respect what he was working on and I suspect that in your case. Not sure what wax you were using but I have never had tape not stick and even if it was loose it usually stayed in place to some degree. I have restored several cars. I think somebody is making excuses.

Yup this is why I don't trust having my truck worked on by anyone, anymore. People just aren't careful and nobody will ever care about your belongings more than you.

So you’re saying only you can see them. But really get a good angle and snap a pic.

Wouldn't you think if the "depressions" were in the exact location as the "securing tape" that you certainly have some valid questions to ask...
