My 2017 TRD, Auto did the same thing, too. When cold, the pillar would rattle like little marbles were in the dash and was very annoying. The auto trans would clunk/jerk from 2nd to 1st daily and my dealer told me it was normal. After creating a case with Toyota, the dealer told me to bring it in. They changed the engine oil, did a transmission "upgrade," gave me a pat on the back and sent me on my way with the same crappy downshift/clunk/jerk. I finally had enough and sold the truck. I really liked the truck minus the described issues and minivan motor but I couldn't handle the feeling of slowing down and having someone invisibly rear-end the truck, because that's what it felt like. For 40k I was ready to throw a hammer through the windshield. I went back to my FJZ80 to stay sane. Good luck and I'm unfortunately glad I'm not the only one that experienced this.

I have the same issue , my2017 sr5 9k miles , I thought it only did it when it’s cold or when the gas is around 3/4 but that’s not the case it does it randomly and when it clunks it clunks hard! From 2nd to 1st, I have brought it 4 times to toyota and they tell me it’s a “ characteristic of the truck” which I think is bull$&@t, but it’s documented atleast. Hopefully they find a fix for this.

2018 DC here with a July 18 build date. I have the 2-1 clunking. Dealer told me there's nothing they can do about it until Toyota issues an "official" fix. I knew that when I mentioned it, but I wanted it on the record as being reported.

Now I need to call my diff howl case manager and have her add this one to the case. Or do I open a new, separate case for this 2nd issue?

I have this issue, its documented. Just having them check it every time I take it in for the free services till 25k. They told me they filled the tranny fluid saying it was 3/4qt low. Im gonna say mines probably still low but I have to wait till I finish unpacking my garage and I am just going to check it myself.

Mine wont due it for several weeks but then does several times in a row for a day or two. It occurs at exactly 11 mph as I'm coming to a stop.

Have the exact same thing happening on my 17’ TRD OR DCSB on the high way exit I take multiple times a day. Within 5-10 minutes of starting the engine I hit this exit and experience the same exact clunk
