What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Not bad for a Saturday, Bourbon run in the morning, Cleaned and primed Sliders and filler plates. Painted filler plates with bed liner. Probably Monday before I can paint the sliders.

 

What I’ve done: unsuccessfully attempted to install a controversial gas cap holder. Any advice on getting this bolt loose? PB Blasted and let sit overnight. Heated it up with a hairdryer. Won’t budge.

 

Mine came out easy. Make sure to use a good/proper fitting tool.

 

Grab it with some vice grips

 

Use a 1/4 drive ratchet with a socket that will host a #2 Philips bit

 

Put a TRD badge, keepin it sporty .

 

Finally success! Did 1 more round of PB Blaster and heat with a different screwdriver that fit slightly more snugly. Now I’ll have a beautiful scratch inside the gas door to remind me what an unnecessary bitch that was.

 

Don’t feel bad. I did the same thing and I have tried vice grips,pb blaster, and channel locks. I give up. Just stripped it out more. Sucks, it’s like it’s welded in

 

I legitimately thought somehow mine was accidentally welded on. Something I thought would take 60 seconds took 24 hours. I was worried I was going to strip it too.

Not the only unexpectedly tough screw. Another member (christian06) makes a tailgate-theft-deterrent brace, and installation requires removing one bolt. This is tough because it has reverse-oriented ratchet-teeth. Some people remove the tailgate first and put it on the ground so they can employ long breaker bars, along with heating it up and using PB.

 

I have those in my watch list, glad to hear the install was easy and that they work good. The idea of drill, paint and Tacoma gives me anxiety.

Ditch light mounts, viper cuts ... just saying.

 

It's funny, I have ripped the living shit out of my ZR2 when we were rebuilding it. Had the entire top off the engine down to the heads, body off etc none of that bothered me. I am totally paranoid of screwing something up when it comes to this Tacoma.

 

Finally got around to installing the BDRM dash mount. Pretty sleek! I prefer it over my old Hondo Garage no-drill mount, it's nice to have my fan back.

 

Even mall-crawling is not guaranteed safety. There is a reason "pinstripes" are not used to describe decorative paint for off-roading.

 

New Wheels and Tires along with lift

 

That is Sexy AF!

I want my Sport to have bigger tires...and a DB Tonneau cover.

 

Might get some sealer on the scratch.
