Is this a thing on 3rd gen Tacomas?

I have SR5 V6 and my dad has TRD off road, both 2023.

I drove his car today and both gas and break pedal are much more sensitive, for example break pedal won't do anything on little force but then goes full stop, very tight on breaks. Gas pedal needs little push to jump to acceleration.

On mine, both gas and pedal have intervals, little push gives little break, and little gas, gives little gas. Is this a thing ? the car learns driver's style and adjusts?

Brake systems are actually very different, the offroad has an electric brake booster, your sr5 has vacuum. You are correct they behave different and its because of design.

Only offroad and pro have these, some hate it, some love it.

Damn I thought that too but then doubted it could have been that different, same engine and seems more power on gas.

I did like the acceleration but break not so much, someone can rear end the truck because of it.

You'd hate hybrids haha, they have "simulated pedals" so there's no physical connection to the brake calipers, it can put your head against the steering wheel if you're not fully aware.

Yes, I do hate hybrids. I used to have 03 4runner and I traded it in for Taco because of rust. I loved that car because I like cars with less electronics.

Some say, and I cannot technically argue, that the electronic brake control is part of the "crawl mode" where the truck takes charge of forward motion and you just steer. Crawl mode feels like 10 pounds of loose nuts and bolts dropped into the transmission and the motion feels like the gears are broken, but it can get people of very tight spots where "too much acceleration" is a problem.

    vehicles have BRAKE pedals.

BREAK is what happens when the BRAKE pedal doesn't work.

The hydraulic booster on the off-road and Pro is initially more sensitive when you first tap the pedal, but beyond that it’s far less sensitive. Once you really get into the pedal, the hydraulic booster feels much less normal. I’d rather have the vacuum boosted brakes personally, but either is fine.

that only counts if you're south of the equator, and there's a timtam bar nearby.
