Hi, newer tacoma owner here. My 1st Gen 4cylinder manual trans is driving very rough. It seems to idle fine, but when I shift it into gear, it lurches pretty badly as the RPMs get up to above 3,000. Once in the higher RPM range, it's fine and doesn't lurch or drive rough. Spark plugs are in very good shape so I don't think it's those, and I ran a fuel injector cleaner through the gas tank a couple of weeks ago.
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Start with the basics: check air filter and clean Mass Air Flow sensor and change fuel filters. How old are your spark plug wires?

I second the motion to clean the MAF. My truck bogged like the engine shut off when I jumped on the gas to pull out in traffic. Cleaned the MAF and changed the plugs (I believe they were original with 92K on them) and problem solved.

Use the expensive MAF specific cleaner

Carb/brake cleaner looks/smells same but could damage MAF

Hey @jmreeder, any update? Reporting back with what worked and didn't work will be helpful for other people who may have the same problem in the future.
