I gave the $50 ebay iPod cable a try....

It plugged right into the radio, instantly recognized the ipod and started playing. Audio level was very comparable to the radio/cd player. Good bit better than the 3.5mm audio jack.

The issues that came were these.... Once you turned the key off and back on the radio would not recognize the ipod again until you pulled the radio out, unplugged the ipod cable and plugged it back in. Then it would work until you turned the key off and back on again.

It also kept the clock dimly illuminated even when the key was off. It also kept the power on to the 12 power outlets non stop. So I had to make sure I pushed the power button on my xm to turn it off when getting out of the truck.

JUNK.... sending this garbage back today....

    neglect, mostly.
i wish i would have seen it sooner, cause i didn't suspect it would even be compatible. . . . there's a lot of people on her that have gotten the grom unit and are happy. with that unit you get to keep the use of your cd player as well. most don't allow that.
