You are totally correct. How do you get a 3D printer and make some parts as a model to be fabricated. Maybe Yakima and Diamondback would purchase these products, LOL

The mock up and 3D print should be easy. It’s getting the big guys involved is the issue.

Have a Chassis Unlimited - Thorax Diamondback bed rack for sale.

In good condition. 4 holes were drilled to mount an iKamper that didn’t come out the cleanest but they’re hardly noticeable. Also a little red paint from a mounted shovel.

If interested shoot me a message and I can send more pictures.

Thanks for this! I don't have the welding skills to make this on my own, but had four of those brackets made. I'm excited to try them out!

I apologize for not searching but this page is 9 billion pages long - does anyone with the Front Runner rack know if you can still fold the doors flat on top of each other with the rails installed? or does it force there to be an angle?

I bought the Front Runner rack but am having second thoughts - I really only need to carry sports stuff (bikes, kayaks, skis) occasionally and have no interest in an RTT. It seems like the Yakima system is better for that generally, although open to suggestions.

I'm now digging back through this thread and kind of prefer this setup to the FR racks I bought 6 months ago and still haven't installed. It's still not clear to me which brands interoperate (I had no idea Thule racks could fit Yakima stuff), but I really want my bars/towers quick detachable which FR doesn't do.

Is this setup still holding up? I'm eyeing up either your parts list or the all-in-one Yakima skyline setup that's purpose built for the Diamondback. I see Rhino-Rack has a similar compatible system/towers/racks now too. Would you still do things the same today?

My cover came a little over a week ago and I wasted no time with modifications. Special thanks to the generous person who posted a bracket design! Note the bald eagle in the background.

I hate drilling into my Diamondback Cover but I installed a few of those new low profile anchor plates on the front and back. I have 4 more coming so I can install those on top of the middle hinges.

How do the Front Runner racks hold up against the Yakima racks, is either easier to steal than the other? I'm likely ordering a Diamondback this weekend, to take advantage of their labor day offer.

The reason I'm asking about theft, is that I'm considering purchasing an iKamper Mini and I'm just thinking of the different ways to keep it secured.

I would also consider getting a kayak carrier.

    I'd appreciate any input.

So you have the SE? Without cleats? When finished you will have 4 anchor plates on the cover (2 at cab and 2 at tailgate) and 4 on the hinges? Are the hinges the same on the se and switchback ?

did you order the diamondback ratchet straps? There doesn’t appear to be too many choices out there for 1” “looped” ratchet straps

Does this method affect the seal at all? I.e once the straps are removed, is there a slight gap that will allow water infiltration?

No signs of leaks from the cleats, nor any loosening of cleats.

Got the Front Runner Outfitters Cargo Slide - Medium ordered with the Labor Day sale deal on Monday, picked it up on Tuesday and test fitted it on Wednesday (although, I still need to bolt it in place). I should have ordered this bed slide earlier on soon after getting the DB cover. It’s probably the slickest and most low profile bed slide (edit: commercially made) to fit under the DB covers (edit: or other tonneau covers and bed caps/camper shells). For those mounting their bed racks / crossbars with gear (e.g. overlanding gear, kayak, bike racks…) on their DB cover such that none of the panels can be opened, this bed slide might be a good option for accessing their gear that are stuffed toward the front end of their bed.
IMG_1609.jpg IMG_1606.jpg IMG_1607.jpg IMG_1605.jpg IMG_1613.jpg IMG_1615.jpg Looks like the Medium sized cargo slide is a nearly perfect fit to the short bed Taco’s bed space. Pic above shows it clears the fuel containers hanging from the rail.
    IMG_1614.jpg
The slide also appears to clear the Mountain Hatch tailgate panel. (Again, the bed slide isn’t bolted down yet. It might not clear after bolting down the bed slide frame.)

Is that a full extension or more like a 75%?

I forget, but I think the picture is at about halfway out / extended from the stowed position. It wasn’t bolted down so it made the far end of the bed slide frame raise causing the slide to tilt downward as I pulled it out. However, there is a stopper mechanism that I believe allows for the slide to be pulled out about 75% of the way.

Don’t have images at the moment. But I just went with it. Kinda sucks but I did actually take some 2x6 and lay it length wise in the slot and screwed it to the bottom. Holds the weight of the bin more on the bed then the bed sides.

Ps think through it a little bit the board will need sanded down a little and careful to not put a screw into the bed.

Hey all, long-time diamondback owner here and came here looking for some advice or to see if anyone has done this.

I'm looking at getting the Yakima Overhaul DB mount/racks (pictured below) to get a longer wedge-style rooftop tent that mounts to the bars and overhangs the cab slightly (Example picture below). I'm looking at a FSR Aspen Lite, CVT Mt Triumph, and iKamper BDV Duo.

Does anyone have experience with this rack or with this setup?

I love my diamondback and I don't want to get rid of it, and I'd prefer a wedge over a small folding tent like a Skycamp Mini or equivalent.

    Thanks for your input!
