    Hello,

I recently purchased a 2020 Tacoma TRD Pro with an aftermarket license plate backup camera installed for their hauling purposes.

The factory system was disabled in the process and the birds-eye-view system is no longer working, has anyone ever dealt with this and knows the process to turn the factory system back on?

I'm hoping its a fuse or something simple, I haven't been able to find any settings in the system.

The first picture is what the screen shows while in reverse, the second is what it shows when pressing the camera button on the left of the lower dash.

I had the beatsonic anytime camera kit. It had a button that I could push to switch between a front and rear camera. Any time the battery was disconnected, then both cameras would just display black. To fix, I had to unplug the kit harness from the back of the headunit and connect the stock harness back. Start the truck and then the rear camera was back to normal. After, I could reconnect the camera kit while the battery was still connected and then both cameras would work. Sounds like what you are experiencing.

Okay cool, I'll give that a try - did you have to take apart the dash to get to the head unit? I noticed there is some new wiring down by the foot kick fuse box where they put in the backup camera harness.

I'm gonna guess that the trailer cam system is disconnected and the Tacoma rear cam system is also disconnected, never re-connected.

The new system is still connected and has a rearview mirror camera, the OEM system is disconnected.

Here is what I'm looking at while in reverse, and the wiring done.

What's the empty yellow plug for? Also, how was the new camera powered? (what was it tapped in to).

Mine was a plug and play kit that connected behind the head unit. So yes I did need to pull the ring around the head unit and remove. Yours looks like a rats nest.

@Mtbkrguy, thanks for the schematic. I see that there is a female plug (rca type) labeled 'BACK CAM', I wonder if the disconnected yellow plug I referenced earlier could be related?

I tried to follow the wired back but it’s behind the fuse box and I’ll need to pull out the tools to dig into it further. I’ll be able to do that soon. It’s connected to a purple wire that runs to the back of the fuses.

Remove it all, return to OEM. If TACO suffered failure that the previous owner had to change then you're SOL to have the OEM function.

Its looking like return to factory might be the best option here, Thank you all for the input.

Have you verified that the OEM cam actually works? As in disconnecting the aftermarket connector at the head unit and only using the vehicle harness.

I haven't had the opportunity to disconnect the aftermarket back up camera. Once figure out the brand and the wiring, that is the next step.
