Taillights work, but brake lights don't?

My taillights come on when I turn my head lights on (as expected), but when I brake they don’t get brighter.

I have a camper mounted in the bed of the truck and the center high mount stop light on the camper is working normally.

I checked the number 14 "STOP" fuse at the driver-side fuse box and it is fine.

Any ideas on how to figure this out?

if its shifting into gear then your switch is operating too. so lets start with the basics here. have you tried new bulbs yet? its possible just the filaments for the brake have failed.

Just finished a frame swap with a buddy and tail lights both worked, no brake lights so he says, “Brake lights don’t work, we must’ve hooked something up wrong.”

I said, “I really don’t think so, check the bulbs.”

“Both sides being out sure seems like something else is wrong.”

    It was the bulbs.

I had this happen to a friend with his headlights once. We tested the switch and everything before we thought to check a bulb. Both headlight bulbs had burnt out at the same time. Crazy how that happens sometimes.

Sometimes the simplest answer is the right one!

It can always be worse. I’ve seen techs replace 3 window regulators because the window lock was on. Lol

Yup. Lost both tails in my old car and another car both low beams at the same time. More common than one would think for brake lights since they both see the same amount of use.

Cheap fix is a good fix!
