I got a P1135 error code (02 V6 3.4L manual) and checked the AF sensor and sure enough the heater circuit showed an open circuit. What is odd is the plug for the AF sensor had the AF sensor lines bypassing it while the heater wires still go through the plug presumably done by previous owner. The truck did have a URD timing calibrator (recently removed see https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/not-starting-in-the-morning.804982/#post-28865063 )

The current AF sensor also has a part number I cannot find online looks like Denso 3420 12k01, I just instead ordered a denso 234-9003 as that looks to be the right part. I'm wondering if anyone may have any theories on the sensor itslef and the wiring bypass. I don't think the timing calibrator that used to be installed would have required this.

I plan to just splice the new sensor in on the old sensors wires to avoid more work on the cars wiring. Would love to get a new connector to splice in instead to avoid future wire work but unsure where or what connector to get.

just had to repair a P1135 problem using the local stealer shop. Couldn't get into the independent shop for T/S for two weeks, so the dealer was the only option. CELs on the dash are very misleading. Anyway, had I been able to get the nuts off the air-fuel sensor I could have saved $110 diagnosis fee and $329 for a sensor that Amazon sells for $129 toyota p/n89467-35011.
