Do any of you regret the midrise are Mx? My local shop had one for a discount with Yakima bars, windoors, carpet and front fold down. I’ve never had a midrise before so I’m just hesitant on it. I do like the extra room. I have a white lb off-road if anyone has one with that shell on it for a reference for me. Cheers!

Pictures posted of the exact one for sale.

No regrets at all for me but I planned on the mid rise from the get go. If you’re thinking of camping out of it you will really appreciate the added height if you build a sleeping platform. The setup you described is what I have. Here's mine on a quicksand LB

Looks great. Yea I have my ram2500 cab height and it’s just enough room because obviously the cab is higher. But ya I plan on camping out of it with my little guy and some solo surf trips. How’s the quality of the are been for you?

I've had my ARE for just over a year now and haven't had any problems/complaints.
I do wish I had gone with the Mid Rise for the extra headspace though.
I would suggest you prep the head-rail yourself to make sure it doesnt leak in the corners.
Regardless of which way you go, good luck!

I bought my 2010 on Craigslist and it came with the midrise shell. I was always intending to use the Tacoma for camping so I couldn't believe my luck when I found the truck with the shell included. I would definitely recommend the midrise for the extra space.

Quality of the topper has been good. No issues at all there.

Like @Rorschach said, prep the header rail yourself. I will also say to seriously consider sealing under the side rails also as I have some dust intrusion from there. You will also need to seal the gap at the tailgate.

How’d you seal the tailgate gap? I believe my shop does the side rails for me if not I’ll ask. Header rail?

No regrets, love the extra hight inside.
Plus, you'll love the lift/opening of the sliding windoor(s), makes it's very convenient to retrieve things.
And my truck (stock height) fits iinside the garage.

I had an A.R.E. overland on my Nissan so when I traded it in on my Taco I decided to stay with the same brand.72145990-3D46-48FC-B127-B6ECB2E2312E_1_201_a.jpg 2393AB7F-B7FA-40C6-82ED-07A049A203C9.jpg

Header rail is probably the top edge of the front bed wall. It’s the one area where caps don’t have any overlap to the bed. Bulb seals work well enough except where they transition to the bed rail caps. This is typically sealed with caulk and frequently done poorly.

Sorry, babysitting my grandbabies so comms are hit and miss tonight.

Header rail is the rail at the front of the bed. There are gaps at the corners where it meets the side rails. These need to be sealed with butyl tape or copious amounts of silicone.

The side rails have a bunch of fingers that snap into the holes in the sheet metal. Look up toward the side rails from underneath the bed and you will see what I’m talking about. There’s a lot of airflow that comes through there and I am seeing dust streaks from underneath the side rails on the interior of the bed.

There is a gap around the bottom of the tailgate and the sides that need to be sealed with a tailgate seal. You can find them on Amazon. Also, there are 1/4” gaps on each side of the bed just in front of the tailgate where the sides meet the bottom. Look there and you will see what I’m talking about. Seal that with silicone then put the tailgate seal on, that will stop a large amount of the dust intrusion.
