Really wanting to ditch my Spyder headlights and do this mod. I need some help though on what to do for the headlight housings.

These are posted as the part numbers for the TRD Sport “smoked headlights” in OP’s original post:
    81150-04173 left
    81110-04173 right

However there is no picture of them and I want to make sure I know what I'm getting and not order them blindly-can someone show me what these actually look like?

Another option for me is buying the regular clear/chrome headlights from eBay and doing the BHLM but I don't want to do that entire process if I don’t have to. Could someone also provide a link to a good step by step BHLM thread? I couldn’t find a definitive one.

edit: toyotapartsdeal.com claims to have the updated trd sport headlights 81110-04210 and 81150-04210 but they look different. Product picture sucks. How do I know what I’m really getting ? Pics attached

Go with the numbers in the first post for the smoked/sport housings. @crashnburn80 can confirm this as the new updated numbers are superseded to original part numbers.

Hey all, I'm new here so I apologize if this was already answered.
I'm getting the Osram 100w/90w. I know there's a lot of talk about the harness.
when I start the truck I do have the amber lights come on as DTRL automatically. there's no switch for those. I'm up in Canada. So I'm wondering what harness I should get that includes DTRL?

    thanks, cheers!

Since the DTRL is seperate from the headlight bulb the headlight services harness in the 1st post will work.

And I’m 99% sure you need the power-switched harness.

I’ve heard some bad reviews from people ordering parts from that website. Take the part numbers the other guy mentioned are in the post @crashnburn80 listed them in and shop on dealer sites with better customer service like McGeorge or Camelback.

I almost only order factory parts through a local brick and mortar dealer that participates in online parts purchasing on their website so I can order online and get the online prices and go pick it up in person w/o shipping charges or waiting longer than a day or two and sometimes that very day.

Just look up dealers in your area to see if they do parts ordering online and you can pick up the parts as one of the shipping options. They tend to be a little more expensive with the initial price of items, but no shipping fees and how quickly the parts are available are worth the difference in price usually.

@Dalandser Thanks I'll have to look. My Local Toyota is a small town dealer and I believe they can get parts shipped from KC, I will have to inquire. There seems to be a huge shortage of genuine Toyota parts lately. I tried to get CV axles, and they are like 2 months backordered, apparently. They also couldn't get OEM rear hubs or axles either when I needed those replaced.

If your local dealer isn’t participating in an online parts website program with online parts pricing and you’d have to pay / wait for shipping I’d pass on that option. I’ve been spoiled lately with my nearby dealer but before that I had parts shipped from Conicelli’s, McGeorge’s, and Camelback’s webstores with good results.

I’m sure there’s a thread about which online parts dealer is currently the best / favorite on here but I usually drop part numbers in the previously mentioned websites and my local one to compare prices if / when I’m not in a hurry. My local parts guy has given me online pricing over the phone since I’ve ordered so many parts before haha.

@crashnburn80 do you have an opinion on the quality of Flosser relays? I believe they are German.

Well guys I may have misunderstood some things…forgive me

I bought some cheap aftermarket headlight housings a few years ago (I know I know) I now want better light output. I have everything needed to run the 100/90w bulbs after talking to some of you and reading this thread. Go to install, and I didn’t realize, is the housings I bought, run tiny H1 bulbs. Is there a bright H1 alternative that still utilizes the harness? Or am I ordering new housings? Lol

Most aftemarket housings are not great, most aftermarket things using an H1 are really not that great. This generally encourages people to *UpgrayDD* to an H1 HID kit. But thats really not a great choice.

There *are* good H1 bulbs, but you would be leaps and bounds better to pick up a set of OEM headlamps. No bling factor there, just good lamps.

TLDR: will the 100/90w be okay to use in the reflectors of my current headlights (pic attached)

Yeah I bought these for the looks with complete disregard for light output and I regret that now lol

So here’s my housings…the low beam is the projector and the high beam is the reflector (which I’m not ever sure is correct or if they’ve been wired wrong from the factory this whole time)
I attached a picture of the bracket I took out of the reflector, it *almost* fits the H4 bulb. If I bore it out to accept the diameter of the H4 bulb and secure it in place, is this reflector sufficient for running the 100/90w bulb?? Or is it too small of a space for all the light?
