I just bought my ‘23 Tacoma SR 4x4 a few months back and wanted to eliminate the front rake, while adding some height for larger tires. Was thinking of a 3” Front / 2” Back Spacer Leveling Kit, but was concerned about the reliability for my usage.

I use the truck as a daily driver to and from work, and plan to continue off-roading occasionally. By off-roading, I mean driving through sand, mud, gravel trails, and getting over the occasional bumps or obstacles on the trail here and there. I don’t do anything extreme, and am not looking to thrash my truck around or rock crawl.

I’ve heard all the horror stories of trucks blowing up and getting snapped in half with spacers (not literally). Just wanted some honest opinions.

BTW, the spacer lift is only temporary. Looking to upgrade to some FOX shocks once the money comes around (Probably in a year or so).

    Thanks in advance!

    Nope. Not even temporarily.

Cheap lifts remove capability and handling. A 3 inch spacer forces your truck to stand on its tippy toes - pretty much wiping out all available downtravel of your front arms. Which means any time you go over a dip or an off-camber roll, your truck will noticeably lose traction. Much like a 3 foot tall pallbearer, there's going to be a corner that won't have any weight on it.

^^^ Visualize these guys walking across a narrow ditch. That's what you are doing to your truck when you install a budget lift.

Save it up, do it right. And also, have a hard think about not liking rake. Rake is there for a very good reason.
