Even if it had nothing to do with the problem you’re having I would redo those wires connections on the negative battery terminal, the one that goes to the firewall is not connected very well

Where does the other end of that harness go? If it does corrode, as mentioned above, how are people going about the repair?

    Cut and splice.

    Way back years ago.
    Another member had this issue.
Took him a while to find the problem.

    @Jimmyh might remember.
Our good buddy Muddin' Fun was the first guy I know to fight the problem.
Kind of miss the guy. He disappeared right about the time COVID hit. I hope he is out there doing OK.

Him and JimmyH were the first guys that helped me learn to read wiring diagrams.
Then I met Dm93 and it just took off from there.

So I tested the plug that’s attached to the alternator and had 12v at the green wire and 0v at the white wire. So I checked the 7.5 fuses at the fuse box under the hood. Tested the fuse and found out that it was blown. Thanks guys for all of the quick reply’s to my issue.

    Awesome.
That wasn’t too hard was it?

    Better than changing an alternator.

Some might say, now you HAVE to figure out why that fuse popped. I tend to disagree. I’m not saying don’t do any testing at all. But you don’t need to spend hours testing and in the end still find no cause. To each their own.

If it were mine, I might plug a tester I have in the fuse socket and check the amperage draw while turning things on and off, maybe if I’m feeling extra ambitious, put my load tester on the battery.

APPEARS has defeated many owners, get a meter and test them is the only sure way to verify status. Glad to hear it's corrected.

@Waasheem the fuse blew because I made a rookie mistake rushing to get the alternator on before it got dark so I could hunt the next day. My wrench hit a bolt while removing a the power wire!!!

Thanks for the information so far. I have a similar issue with light on with refurbished (Auto Store) alternator not charging. All fuses are testing good with meter and power to green wire when key on and white wire when off. The battery light was not on before replacing with refurbished alternator. I appreciate any advice that can be offered.

We've all done it and that's why the fuse is there!
Glad you got it figured out but I would give those negative cables some attention before they force you to.
