Truck not driving good

I have 2017 trd OR with bilstein 6112/5160s on 6/5 notch and wheel spacer on front tires with stock wheels and 2” block on rear.

My truck is slowly becoming out of alignment and driving all over the road and is very rough ride. Planning on dropping down to 5/4 or 3/4 notch and adding JBA UCA and taking off block and do an add a leaf. I believe the UCA along with dropping the shocks down will help.
Would I still clear 285/75/16 on 4/3 notch?

 

A lift does not help you clear larger tires... in IFS suspensions, your suspension has a limited range of travel, so when the suspension compresses, your lift is gone. Ditch the lift and clear for 33's properly.

 

Are you referring to a offset wheel spacer and if so front only?

 

Yes 1.25” on front only

 

Is it just me or front tires look pushed/pulled in? The bottom side on both front tires look like its pulled in.

 

Why did you choose to put spacers on the front only? Would that not make the truck track funny with each tire contacting a different part of the pavement?

I am assuming we are talking about wheel spacers that widen track width?

 

Ditch the front spacers, should not have them just in the front. Drop the front down to the 1.55" setting and put a progressive AAL in the rear. If you want more lift than that then start over with a proper lift.

What exactly would you mean by a proper lift?

@Teezyf5 will not clear 285-wide tires on stock wheels without wheel spacers. The tires would rub on suspension. In any case wheel spacers don't contribute to poor ride quality. Large amount of lift as you say, plus LT tires contribute to poor ride quality.

Like other's said seems like having the front tire offset different than the rear would make the truck track strange. Get the new uca's and ditch the spacers.... drop the front down to around 2-2.5"(in the picture the front looks higher then the rear.) Get rid of the rear block and go with a aal for a temporary fix or a full leaf pack for the long haul... the different options of the rxt leaf pack will allow for weight/height changes for many years to come .

 

taking the block out is a great call. Check your tire psi too, might be worth running a lower psi

 

I've said this in the past but bears repeating. Toyotas do not handle lifts well, that is to say if you cut corners. Take a Jeep for instance; they can handle lesser quality builds I suspect due to their solid front axle design. I have learned that if you want to lift a toyota whether it be a 4Runner, FJ, or Tacoma you have to throw a little more money at it or you will be chasing issues like you are doing.
If you want to fit 285's with out any rubbing, steering issues, or terrible ride, then you should be looking at higher end suspension kits, that include UCAs, Leaf kits, and additional reservoirs for the coil overs.
I'm sure I will get flamed for this, but I'm speaking from my own past experiences. Can you get a Rough Country lift (or equivalent), or a spacer lift? Sure, but in the end you will end up hating it or learning to live with the annoyances that come with it. Buy once Cry once.

 

everyone has their own theories. In my experience, i ran wheel spacers on my tacoma and 4runner and it made the ride harsher. i noticed a big differences putting them on and off again. I loved the look with them, but hated the ride with them.

i also have the 6112/5160. on the highest setting, they were pretty stiff. i had to go from 6/5 to 3/4. that did soften the ride a good amount.....

and fianlly tire PSI makes a big differences. go with what the door jam says. on 2nd gen i believe its 31/29 psi.

 

So true ! Installed spidertrax 1.25 spacers but tacoma drives like crap. Seems like there’s no give in the suspension. Bone jarring ride. I Removed it and sold it here. Function first before looks for me.
