I appreciate this how-to. Is this the same process for a 2009 reg cab? I have been told it is different because we have side impact airbags. The bench seat is killing me!! Makes me not like the truck some days.

I know there is a guy on Taco World that followed this how-to and had no airbag problems in his 2013. Can anyone else confirm?

I just completed this swap in my 2009 Regular Cab PreRunner. I purchased 2012 buckets with airbags and followed the detailed directions to the letter. Came out perfect, no airbag lights, and the seat sensor pad swap into the passenger bucket works as it should.

While I had everything out, I sound deadened the cab and headliner with 80mil Kilmat. Next step will be installing Kilmat in the doors when I install my new speakers and tint the windows.

Thanks again to the original poster!

Great work! I'd like to do that to my 2008 Reg Cab 4x4 w/ bench seat. Where did you find the bucket seats?

I found them at a Conn. junk yard. From a 2014. Mine is a 2013 . They have airbags in those years.

I used “Cap-Part.com” to conduct an extensive search of nearby salvage yards for availability of the particular seats I wanted and found a set within 75 miles of my home.

My seats came with all the wiring, basically complete, do I still have take out the bladder and the other things or can I just plug and play it since it has everything already. mine is a 2014, I bought a 2014 console, and I believe the seats came out of a 2013 due to seeing the yellow airbag wire and all the other wires that match up perfectly. Hopefully I get a response from someone soon plan on doing the seat swap this week :)

Know this is an old post but taking a shot just in case someone still checks this thread and may have an answer. After more than a year I finally have a bead on some bucket seats with airbags and trying to be sure I have enough time carved out to do the swap.

It looks like there is one main wiring harness on each side of the bench to disconnect before the bench seat can be removed. I’m also guessing that the entire wiring loom will be removed from the new bucket, leaving just the airbag wire harness which will be connected to the corresponding harness on the bench. However, from the pics there seems to be an assortment of other wiring harnesses under the seat. Do these also get disconnected and reconnected to corresponding harnesses on the bucket seat (meaning I leave the existing wiring loom on the bucket) or does the bench loom connect back to itself save the one main connector per side (heard it described as a loop) and just be clipped/zip tied to the bottom of the new bucket?

Hope this makes sense and thanks in advance for the input.

Hey everyone, I see this old thread but lots of good info! Thanks everyone! I think I have the bench seat figured out, but I wanna take it one step further! I found a Toyota only junkyard in SoCal and now I also want to swap out the door panels and motors for the automatic option.. has anyone done anything like this?

Has anyone been able to find buckets out of a single cab? Did those seats come with the right wiring and airbags? I think 2010 to 2015 the airbags came standard but only the automatic single cabs had the buckets

What exactly does the seat rail sensor do?

Im guessing it would soften the airbag in the case it deploys if the bench seat is closer to the airbag ie; if I let my wife drive, I would have my chin resting on my knees… I wouldn’t want that airbag to deploy full blast if it had too

I've got double cab seats and a console to put in my reg cab. I've looked online for center console brackets and didn't find anything. I'm just going to hit up a wrecking yard and see if they can get all the brackets, bolts, nuts, screws, etc out of a double cab...
