I’ve read reports here of a parasitic draw by the Scangauge unit. Far more than the advertised draw. Resulting in dead batteries.

The solution is that Linear Logic replaces a faulty cord and the draw is lowered to something more tolerable.

Would Spiker Engineering stand behind this issue or would we need to contact Linear Logic directly?

 

We could handle any issue either by putting you in touch directly with Linear Logic or by acting as their rep in resolving the concern or any questions. That was something that I specifically wanted to be sure of before signing up for their dealer program.

Interesting. Been running a Scangauge II for about 3 years now....did have a dead battery last year but it was a few years old so I didn't think much of it. Guess if it this newer battery dies anytime soon I'll know where to look

 

Good question, I updated the original post to reflect that the MAPs are currently $159.95 for SGII and $269.96 for SGIII. The gauge mounts are sold separately.

must be the newer 3 versions, had mine (sgII) for at least 10 years and never a drain.

No sale prices are allowed by the manufacturer. If you're outside of CA, you can get a price break since you don't pay a sales tax on our orders.

I am guessing you have never designed and sold an American made electronic product for commercial sale. Is it cheaper to build electronics in the USA now than years ago? Nope. Your truck might be old but that isn't a factor. And these are cheap.

Well in your post your were not very specific. Can ya use a cheap BT dongle? Absolutely. But they are not the same thing so I don't see your point. A BT dongle is not the same thing. But perhaps you don't know that? Seems so.

 

I have an ELM37 or whatever, its junk, the scan gauge is nice because it works everytime, somepeople like not fiddling with bluetooth etc.

I've had a few varients of wireless dlc to phones, none were perfect. In the end I got a mongoose.

 

I have several different BT interfaces to ODBII but they all require a phone. But the Scangauge is dedicated hardware and it works great. I use Torque and other apps with some of my different cars but for a very basic vehicle like a first gen Tacoma the Scangauge II is just about perfect since it's "always live" and just works.

 

I also really like the "always on" aspect of the Scangauge. I use a BT dongle and Torque Pro when I'm trying to diagnose a specific issue, but for the other 99% of the time, the SG is awesome.
