I go fishing a lot so it's tiring driving at night doing 80 and not be able to see far. Lots of pigs, deer and armadillos on Tx highways so it wasn't for aesthetics but more for safety. I was looking into retrofit LED enclosures but those things are expensive.

So it's your truck and you have to be happy.

That said, take those monstrosities off and get a slim little bar to fit over the bumper.

I agree with STD. Return those and do it right with a light bar!

Looks good but look into putting them on top. Check on a frame for roof

Do what you like, why everyone else has to chime in with what they prefer I don’t know. Those look like they’ll have a better throw if they have a driving or spot beam pattern, light bars are not a good choice for distance vision, if you’re going 80 you’ll be outrunning the light.

Thanks, it's a lot of work to keep an old truck look clean. Especially if you use it daily for work and go fishing with it on weekends.

That's exactly why I bought them, long distance driving isn't so tiring now when I do an 8 hour driving trip in Texas. We have our own autobahn here. :)

How did you wire them? Are they on a seperate switch or did you wire them to come on with your high beams?

I mounted them on a separate switch that can optionally turn on or off when high beams are on. I used an aluminum light mount from a bronco and modified it to fit a taco so the lights wouldn't just bolt to the bumper.

I had Lightforce 170’s for the same reason, Aussies know how to build lighting.

I’ve had HID projector retrofits for the last 6-1/2 years, now running Osram Night Breaker bulbs, no need for driving/spots.

I have a dual amber/white light bar and run the amber with no other lights = low light signature, but only use it driving on mountain roads at night, speeds under 30mph, pretty much useless for distance vision.

Heck yea man, Lightforce are pretty amazing lights. I don't like the look of light bars and putting lights on the roof just seems like a lot of wind noise. Everytime I use mine on the highway I'm blown away by how far I can see the road. I'm on a tight budget so some of the retrofit kits are pretty pricey so maybe in the far future I can touch that tech.

I like them but i would upgraded my headlights to projector retrofit. Ran me about $222 and i love using my truck at night now.

That’s super impressive if you can do it for that cheap, curious what components you used?

It would be a consideration to start with aftermarket headlight housings to be able to keep the OEM’s if you plan on selling the truck, and a lot of people recommend Depo due to the fact they know the butyl will soften in the oven so you can separate the lenses, so that’s likely $100. I had to having 99 headlights with factory obscured lenses.

I would recommend buying from a reputable company and getting bi-xenon (low and high beam switching), I went with Morimoto D2S, even getting them during a 25% off sale at The Retrofit Source I spent ~$400 inc tax, and added halos.

    https://www.theretrofitsource.com/bixenon-morimoto-mini-d2s-stage-3-CRK-D2S?quantity=1

IMG_0671.jpgIn my opinion, besides Tundra brakes, the single best modification safety wise. Vastly improves visibility in all conditions- not just distance vision, but clarity, cornering, inclement weather, and the ability of other drivers to see you.

What do you think of this idea. I have this OEM roof rack sitting in my garage if you want to consider it. I'm in TX.
