My 1st gen Taco just got a topper! It's got busted glass in the back though, and I can't seem to get a single shop to give me a replacement unless I can identify the make of the topper and find a dealer.
It was apparently originally sold by a dealer called "Ely's" out of Chicago, for a regular cab.

If anyone here knows what brand this topper is, that would be super helpful. Or, where I could get a window cut in the Lansing, MI area. Every auto glass place shut me down when I mentioned it was for a topper, and nobody that I could find does polycarbonate sheets at a reasonable price.

I have literally two days to get this thing sorted before I have to move across the country in this thing, so help soon would be appreciated!

There's no identifying marks anywhere inside the topper, no serial number, or anything like that, that I was able to find. If I know where to look, I can check again for those spots.

Can't say what type of cap that is but for a quick fix you could get a piece of lexan fitted to the frame. It shouldn't be a big job. Just trim the lexan to the frame and attach. You may have to use silicone or urethane for a permanent fix. Or if you're lucky, you might be able to fit the lexan inside the frame.

I used a piece of lexan when my back window broke and I had to wait 6 weeks for a replacement. Worked fine. My ARE Revo cap has a frameless rear window design so the fit wasn't perfect but it kept the weather out.

About the only thing you are going to get done in 2 days is custom
Glass shop, diy lexan or plywood
    Good luck on the move

One of the big questions I have about the lexan option is how thick does it need to be to hold up to winter highway driving? The only places nearby that I could find that has it in stock are $200 for a 0.17" sheet. I'm not excited to dump all that money if it isn't going to hold up.

As many as I can fabricate
Just throw a hunk of sheet metal in there. You've got 2 good windows. Custom cut glass is the only option I think. Lexan has been several hundred miles an hour so that's not a problem. Good luck.

The lexan worked fine for me during the winter. Stayed flexible. No issues. It's better than plexiglass. 0.17" is close to 3/16". Should be plenty thick. Try a custom glass / window shop. They may have a scrap piece of lexan and sell it cheaper. That's what I did. Wasn't that expensive. Less than $100 Canadian. That's about $60 US.

Okay, now the other question about this thing - how do I figure out the third brake light? There's no obvious wiring available. I do have trailer hitch wiring that I can use to wire something up, but the topper definitely doesn't have any wires. Is there a standard third brake light kit I can use?
