Icon rxt leaf pack

Got my leaf pack today. Gonna ask again just to get more opinions….

Front will remain stock ride height, camper shell and bed drawers in the back. Want to keep a factory rake, maybe a little higher even. Leaning toward option 2 but don’t want to have to take it back apart it’s too high. Thoughts?

 

I would with stage #2 as already suggested by @memario1214

 

Ended up going option 1 mostly out of laziness, but I’m glad I did. Sitting at 23 1/4” hub to wheel well with roughly 350-400lbs on the back. Rides significantly better even with having stock shocks still.


This is before, without my bed drawers which are probably another 150lbs at least.

 

Got the RXT stage one upgrade system installed friday paired with Icon 2.5 VS IR coil over front shocks. The goal was to gain a lift, better ride quality over stock components with 140k and be able to haul/tow without dragging. I had them install option 2 leaf pack and I believe the front coils are set to Icon factory recommended lift. So far I’m happy with the ride but the rear end seems a bit high. What do you guys think? I like a bit of rake but a little less what would be the recommended strategy. TIA

something i found out is that the 2.5 icon shocks have 150lbs of applied force each due to the high nitrogen charge and 7/8" shaft. thats 300lbs extra pushing the rear of truck up over a non charged shock. my truck on option 1 sits level with rear shocks disconnected. with shocks installed rear is 1.5" higher.

 

I just installed this leaf pack on option 3 along with 5160’s. My e-brake line is rubbing on the leaf pack bolts though.

what did everyone do to keep that from happening? It seems like reconnecting the factory line holder could work (with some modifications), but it would be pretty tight and may not allow full articulation.

Did some more research and I think I’ll be good to ream out the hole on the OEM bracket and bend it into place.

also, got 4” of lift from where I was sitting before. fender to hub is 25.25”. Much more than I was expecting, but I’m sure it will settle. And I was probably sagging before.

 

I was in the same boat as you. Option 3, over 25” from fender to center of hub, and how to secure the e-brake cable.

I have had my leafs installed for over 6 months now. They are well broken in and it feels great. The rear end has settled down to 24”. My bed is empty 90% of the time but I always have a steel rear bumper, full size 33” tire with matching rim, bed rack, sliders and full skid plate. I reused the factory brake cable mounts but drilled out the holes to work on the rxt bolts.

 

What brand is the airbag and review of it, thanks?

 

Firestone bags. Been doing fine for years now. Holding strong. However I do run the Daystar cradles.

 

I kept the factory ebrakeline holder with no issues. Additionally the lift will certainly settle mine was over at first more than i anticipated and settled after a few weeks to roughly what u was aiming for.

 

yup, ebrake brackets are bent and working perfect.

I want to add a brake line spacer since my 5160’s didn’t come with it just to give that little bit of extra clearance. Does anyone have advice on what to use and what extended bolt?

 

Don’t bother with a spacer. I bolted my brake mount on upside down on my Icon and haven’t had an issue with rubbing or tension. I can flex the rear without issues

 

sorry, I’m now talking about the actual brake lines, I have the e Brake sorted!

 

Just swapped from option 2 to option 3. It was not fun and I regret doing option 2 from the beginning. If you plan on running with a decent amount of weight in the bed/rear plan for the future. It’s a lot of work for a little bit of height gain
