I am 6k miles deep on the stock 265/65/17 street tires for a taco sport trd. I thought they would be better but they are uniquely crappy option from the factory feel a bit slighted on that. I am new to mods of any kind, I was looking for a tire option that is a little less street specific and larger.

I've spoken to many shops here in Boulder County and frankly I have a lot of different answers. Today I was given a unique option but would appreciate expertise here to verify its authenticity.

We threw a 275/70/17 on the truck and it was super close to no rub. But there is rub on extreme radius turns. The suggestion posed was a 1.5'' spacer that would create that space.

My biggest concern is performance, vehicle longevity, gas mileage and if this is frankly a stupid idea. Can anyone with experience on the topic please let me know if this is a worthy investment to gain a more aggressive tire and 1.5 inches lift? Or spaces are bad for vehicles?

Does anyone have any ideas with the least amounts of mods possible?

Ok gracias and happy new years.

Spacer will make it more likely to rub, it pushes the wheel out and creates a greater likelihood of contact.

A high caster alignment is the best first step. You ask the shop to max caster, pushing the wheels forward creating more clearance.

We should specify where is it rubbing? Uca? cab mount?
A sport has a +33 offset wheel which I'm sure hits the uca with a 275. Now a 1.25" spacer will help there but the increased scrub radius will make it easier to rub the cab mount. It will make your offset right around 0 which is the ideal balance for clearence everywhere.
Now of its hitting the can mount as explained above that spacer does you no favors and having your alignment changed from factory spec to a higher castor setting will help push the wheel forward away from the cab mount.

Lifts are over rated and don't really help fit bigger tires except at ride height.
