    Howdy everyone,

I recently picked up a lightly used '22 Tacoma Off-Road in magnetic gray with a 6 speed manual transmission. It had about 3200 miles on the odometer when I bought the truck.

I'm coming from a '86 4runner that was SASed on 35" tires with 5.29 gears and air lockers, dual t-cases with a 4.7 gear in the rear case, etc etc etc. It was outstanding for wheeling in Colorado, Oregon, and California over the eight years I had it, but it was not fun on the highway and there were approximately zero safety features in that truck. Thus, I took the plunge into a Tacoma.

So far I've installed a dash cam and done the A/C hose drain extension. I've got some skid plates on order from RCI Offroad including their cat guard plates, and I just ordered SaBellCo's Tailgate Lock. I'll probably order an Archive Garage u-bolt flip kit soon.

The truck came with a BA4x4 Hiline front winch bumper with a two row LED light bar. It also came with some Toyota side steps that I'll be removing as soon as sliders I ordered show up. And a TRD skid plate will also be removed and replaced when the skid plates come. It also has a nice tonneau cover that I'll keep for now until I get around to getting a topper.

One thing I haven't decided on yet is the window tinting that the truck came with. It's way too dark compared to what I normally prefer but I haven't decided yet if I'm going to remove it, get it re-tinted, or keep it. I figure I'll give it another month before I make that decision.

I'm a member of Rising Sun 4x4 out in Colorado although these days I live on the central coast of California. Most of my wheeling the last few years has happened on the High Sierra Ranger District of the Sierra National Forest where my parents live but soon I'll be venturing out to the desert and other locales.

My general plan is to eventually get the truck setup with long travel, a dual t-case setup, and probably 37" tires. It'll take a few years for me to get there considering the expense involved with the suspension upgrades. For now I'm keeping the suspension stock and adding armor. I may upgrade the rear spring hangers as well...

Here's a photo of the new truck:

And here's a photo of my old 4runner:

Nice 4R, miss my white 86 every time I see an old school one running around.

    Thanks!

I really enjoyed my old 4runner except for the interior geometry and the lack of safety features. Also that truck literally needed everything replaced when I sold it to a friend. He ended up having the engine grenade on him a few months after getting it (he was aware of the risk when I sold it to him) and sold it to someone else. I've got no idea where it is now. Hopefully someone is enjoying it.
