I'm less than a week of having my sons '96 2.7L 3rz back together. Done a few oil changes.....and I've put less than 25 miles on it. Last night, went to get gas.....6 miles down the road....and CEL comes on. Truck was running fine. No misfire or obvious symptoms to speak of. Drives fine rest of the way home. Pulled codes and I got P1300 - Igniter circuit Fault No 1.

I've done some research, on here and googling. I also printed the inspection procedure from the FSM. This morning I cleared the code, re-seated the connector to the igniter, and thought I'd give it another test drive. 6-8 miles, fine. No problems. But....when I went to go start it again, it stumbled.....ever so slightly.....then threw the code again.

I'll walk through the testing steps tonight, which I understand to be:

    1. Check for spark on all plugs
    2. Check for open or short between the igniter connector and the ECU
    3. Check voltage @ the ECM

Am I on the right track? I'm wondering if I pulled a pin out of the connector or jarred a wire loose as I was wrestling everything in and out of the engine bay.

Is there anything else I should be checking or pointing towards?? I'm confused as to how it gave me that code last night.....but drove all the way home fine. I was under the impression that when you get a 1300 code, the computer cuts the fuel to the engine since it doesn't think there is a spark.

    Ideas?

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Because the 2.7 has the 2 igniter /coil modules as you have found out it does not shutoff the fuel.

Make sure your using the 2.7 diagnostics not the 3.4 as they are different.

    in the 2.7 The Po1300 is igniter #1 PO1305 is igniter #2
