What’s going on tw. I recently built this to go along with my soft topper but was wondering if anyone had any ideas on waterproofing this drawer system incase I want to take my shell off. Any input is appreciated thanks.

Also finding a way to keep dirt out is another problem. No matter how many times I clean there’s always dirt coming in the camper shell somehow…

If you want to waterproof it with the top off, your best option is to keep the top on. I don't see any other possibility aside from a tarp over that carpet.

Just wondering do you drive around with that tire secured like that . Not trying to sound like a jerk u really shouldn’t secure a spare like that it’s super dangerous and could potentially kill u or other drivers . Strapping it to a piece of plywood will not hold it .

I believe a tarp would the least expensive and most expedient way to seal it. Cut it to fit and staple the edges to the underside of the overhang.

Are you saying in a collision? Everything in there is snug down I’m not sure how that’s dangerous.. anything can fly off in a collision

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
I agree maybe if your in a roll over but the tire is still attached to the plywood .

Not sure why anyone would feel it was dangerous !!

maybe they were damaged by something falling off a truck it does happen.

Please explain your reasoning we might learn something new??

I have secured things like that my whole life never killed any one by accident.

I can see your point if the bed itself is torn off the frame then the tire is not the only problem.

well you could run the Softopper or a cheap tonneau and have that be insulated

if not, well the bed is wood and carpet and so are drawers that absorb water

    could switch to plastic
    or get Decked
Idk of any plastic beds. BamBeds makes beds but they’re still wood.

I don’t know how well paint and whatnot could protect it. Then there’s still water absorbing carpet on top of that.

    It can be sealed
And there’s rubber gaskets to add in the back

I guess I’ll throw an extra ratchet strap over my spare in the bed :anonymous:

to answer your question, I would look into a bed mat and tonneau. That combo works surprisingly well to keep things in the bed dry as the water goes under the mat
