    Hello all,

This is my first post here. A while ago my rear view mirror was destroyed leading me to replace with a cheaper one from Amazon. My new mirror does not have a place for the stock 3-wire harness that plugs into the original mirror so I simply taped the connections and called it good. I found out that two of the wires touched during the taping process, causing a pop to be heard. Since that "pop", none of the accessory electrical functions that operate when the vehicle is off are working. I must now manually lock each door and pull the door key out of my key fab to get back in. Dome lights do not function either. When the truck is running, these issues are no longer.
I have looked at all standard fuses inside the cab and under the hood. None of them have blown. I have not inspected any relays though... Anybody have an idea as to where I should look for addressing the issue?

Maybe @caribe makaira could chime in on this. I have no clue and would rely on my shop.

so you de-pinned the factory plug, and then taped the wires together?

Correct, I regret to say. The pins fell out of the plug and wouldn’t stay in so I figured oh well. Now I’m here learning all about wiring and understanding why this was nothing but foolish. Rather than tape, I plan to properly cap these wires before I do anything else.

Thank you for the replies. I don’t like the “I fear” sound of this…

    Just replace the fuse.
Both mirror and main body module use that fuse.
